There are lots of things that can have a positive effect on confidence such as doing things we enjoy or make us feel good. Sadly, when we’re having one of those days where we feel less confident, we often stop doing the things that make us feel good in the first place. When you’re in need of a confidence boost it can be helpful to return to those activities that you enjoy which could be anything from talking to a friend, exercising, reading a book, cooking or listening to music. For me I enjoy exercising and have found keeping up with an exercise routine helpful for feeling confident.
What are activities that you enjoy that help you feel more confident?
Do you have any other tips for building confidence?
When I'm in need of a confidence boost there are different things I do depending on the day and how I feel. One of the main things that I've found really helpful is saying positive things about myself out loud or writing then down. I actually have a few uplifting phrases stuck to my mirror like "I am strong" and "I am beautiful". Saying these things to myself whilst looking in the mirror helps me to believe in myself. I know it doesn't always work for everyone but I've personally found this really empowering so I'd definitely recommend!🙂
Thanks for sharing your confidence booster AlwaysSmiling ! I really like the idea of saying positive phrases to yourself. Sometimes we need that reminder that we're strong or beautiful, even better when we can remind ourselves of those truths. You're right that positive affirmations won't work for everyone but it's great that you've found something that works for you and empowers you😊
Needed this today! Thanks for the reminder. Running and drawing are my top two. But you're right, when I'm feeling down, I'm completely uninspired and unmotivated. I know if I did things to get me out of my funk, I'd feel better, but exerting myself and staying focused are the last things I want to do. I'd rather just sleep and wait for the feelings to pass. But that's a really passive role to take. I know I need to force myself to do better even when it sucks and it's hard. I just feel kind of lost and like I'm spinning my wheels when I'm depressed. I believe staying active doing what we love no matter if we are up or down, can help us to stay grounded.
You're welcome younique ! It's tough and exactly what you say about feeling down, knowing what you can do to feel better but then that just feeling like hard work. I think we just have to take it day by day and listen to ourselves' and our body because maybe one day sleeping and waiting for the feeling to pass is the best you can do and that's okay. Then on another day you just might have the strength to push yourself and do the things that make you feel grounded like drawing or running. The fact that you have an awareness of activities that keep you grounded is great in itself, that way you have something to pull from.
