You are used to see yourself in the mirror you're whole life and if you flip your picture your brain is confused and makes it appear that you are way more asymetric then you really are. Its very common in people to be assymetric only a small number 2% of people is very symmetrical and probably have a job as a model because its easyer to photograph in diffrend angles. To me you look very normal but if you are concerned that something could be wrong that we are missing you can make an appointment with a craniofacial surgeon to get ct scans. Kind regards

Have you checked for ear asymmetry? One ear more in front of the other? I have a condition called plagiocephaly that causes such type of asymmetry

Please please listen. There is NOTHING wrong with your face, you don't even have bad assymmetry. I kept looking at the picture trying to work out why you were concerned!

However, I lost too much weight prior to the lockdown, and my photos were far worse than yours. My eye looked markedly higher up on one side and it showed in the mirror also. I was so distraught, people assured me they couldn't see it in real life but my partner admitted he could see it in the mirror. I gained weight as quickly as I could lol and my features look much more symmetrical. I can also use make up to help me and I know now people can't notice it in everyday life. so my last bit of advice regarding is if you are really skinny, eat more. Don't go overboard but thin faces show up any facial flaws and makes them look worse than they are.

Sorry for long post but my heart went out to you because I'm worried you may have a mental health condition called Body Dysmorphia . Google it, read about it on Wikipedia, it's basically an illness where a person thinks there is something wrong with their appearance and there isn't. Or there is some very small flaw and they see it ten times worse than it actually is. It can make sufferers very depressed and in rare cases they have attempted to hurt themselves.

There is NOTHING wrong with your face. I cannot stress that enough. I would like you to read up on Body Dysmorphia and possibly contact a doctor when the lockdown is less strict.

Every single human face is not symmetrical, in fact we would look really odd if we were. But your face is fine, I promise xx Stop taking photos as it's not healthy mentally and read up on Body Dysmorphia so you can understand a little bit more about it. Don't keep your fears bottled up, talk to your family and try and eat more if you are skinny. But there is nothing wrong with your face and nobody would think there was if they saw you.

I know someone with Body Dysmorphia and how distressing it can be. It can ruin a person's life. Please take care of yourself, Stop the photos. You look totally fine 👍 xx

Thank you very much, I think I may have what you said because I’ve searched it all up before, thank you for your kind comments it has made me less concious thank you xxx

This is a really interesting and positive thread - hopefully you've found it helpful, Pezza09?

To echo what others have said, some level of facial asymmetry is not only totally normal, but can be desirable! Some research has shown that people actually tend to find images of totally symmetrical faces to be disconcerting and uncanny.

It sounds like PinkLady90's suggestion of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) has resonated with you, and may well have provided food for thought for other people on the forum.

Mind have a good factsheet about BDD that you can read here: mind.org.uk/media-a/2964/bd..., which includes information about how you can get support.
