Hello and welcome to the weekend! It’s exam season and we know lots of you have exams over the next few weeks. As you study do remember to take care of yourself - get enough sleep, drink lots of water and eat healthy nutritious meals. Depending on your dietary lifestyle here are some foods identified as brain-boosters: eggs, nuts, yogurt, cottage cheese, whole-grain cereal, porridge, fish, blueberries, pumpkin seeds, flaxseed, dried fruits. Do you know of any other brain foods to add to the list? Happy revising and best of luck to everyone

this is a great post to see. I always thought it was hogwash the talk of brain food, of course I knew eating healthily can only be positive but just how positive I didnt realise.

Ive never (maybe a few occasions) tolerated breakfast as a meal. I feel nausea at the thought of morning food and nauseous through whatever ails me in the mornings and my daughter has always disliked eating in mornings so I never false her despite encouragement.

I recently had no choice but to eat breakfast as had to eat to take tablets so I said to my daughter who is sitting exams to try too, and to help me I feel too she did. Not liking milk we didnt go for cereal and of course there's no health benefit in that so we had a slice of sourdough with avocado ,honey and thyme salmon and a bit of tomato. we both felt the benefit and so have done this all week and hope to continue it though its tough now for me as steroids gave me an appetite but now its gone and old feelings back now finished them.

I also was doing daughter a healthy fish lunch and some blueberries and seeds and herbs which she loves and we cannot believe how its helped her.

I think its hard as we cant often afford to eat this way and really had to cut from elsewhere to do so, but this really needs hammering home to what a difference it can make and its ss if you don't realise until you try.

our living crisis does not help as things just not affordable and government really need to look at this and the difference it can make instead of telling us we can eat budget tins of food.

I cant add to the list as in the midst of learning curve but I just wanted to say what a difference brain food makes. I mentioned it to an older couple yesterday who said they'd never heard of brain food yet everyones heard of McDonalds 😱. (I do enjoy a McDonald treat )😂.

great post 👍

Really interesting post, thanks ever so for it Stiff19.

I had a really cool Doctor once who reminded my that humans are Ominvores. We've evolved to eat both meat, fish and fruit, nuts, berries, whatever is available. If you can kill it, catch it, grow it or pick it, its for your table.

we are so adept at living off everything, that it does mean that we can afford if we choose to modify our diets and go Vegan, vegetarian, Pescatarian, combined, or whatever, so long as we are mindful that we must give our bodies all the nutrients it needs.

It still requires 2,500 calories per day to meet our bodies needs (males) and a little less for females. More if you're working hard, more, and of course, your brain uses energy to function!

You've got to feed it!

There is no way would you expect to take an Aston Martin across Europe without putting petrol in. And the by the same token, you cannot expect your body to perform well for you if you don't put in the fuel it needs to power it, and repair the wear and it it comes up against.

It makes it so important to be able to listen to what your body is telling you. KNow what food you like, you crave, what makes you feel better, fell fuller, But most importantly, gives you the nutrients you need to live, survive (how we evolved) and thrive (which we should).

Enjoy your food! Supper's up! :-)
