Does psoriasis count?

I have psoriasis - intensely red skin that peels and flakes and can have a blotchy, bumpy look - all over my face and scalp. It kind of forms a "butterfly" shape over my cheeks, nose and forehead. Whenever I talk to family about it they say im over reacting and laugh if I refer to it as a disfigurement. Does having psoriasis count as facial disfigurement or is it not severe/ permanent enough?

It can clear up from time to time though that is more unusual as I get older. It gets a lot of looks, comments and people treat me different/ I feel different compared to when its not there.

I don't think you are overreacting.

Do get some help, do get a referral to a dermatologist who will take you seriously and hopefully help improve your skin. You will hopefully feel better and less stressed.

Good luck, take care.

I hope you are getting some help.

In the meantime go on YouTube , search for Hannah sillitor , she suggests a pretty radical diet, but you can ease into it, real incentive helps. Cut out dairy, processed food, nightshade family, alcohol, all these are inflammatory, once they are removed your body has a chance to heal. She healed herself from terrible skin problems. Please try, I would love to hear that you do. Best wishes.

Have you tried anything like this diet? Do you have psoriasis? I seen a video with jordan peterson suggesting a 'carnivore' diet cleared his psoriasis so I am trying that but its pretty impossible to keep to. I have tried diets in the past but they have never worked for me. I am thinking I will just take drugs such as methotrexate and hope they work.

No, I don't have psoriasis, but a friend of mine has terrible eczema, he's now seeing a dermatologist. That's how we found out about diet. I myself have a really itchy scalp ( dandruff) I I find a selenium shampoo helps ( elvive) but as it supposedly causes hair to fall out I'm actually trying this extreme diet, I was well on my way to it, just had to drop the nightshades, which I was eating a lot of.

I have found it has helped in a couple of ways, some deep cracks in my tongue are clearing and if I may be so bold, my number 2s are no longer loose. I think these are good antiflamatory signs, so I will persevere, also I'm less bloated, and some weight has dropped off.

I realize all this is not that revelevant to most people in this group, but hopefully it may encourage you. I realize though, it is difficult to radically change diet, I did it over a few years.

I hope things improve for you, take care.
