Hi everyone, Sending warmest best wishes to you all and especially to any new members, and just a quick reminder that today is Free For All on Friday so please be as creative as you wish, within our community guidelines.
I'm going to do a separate post as it's on a Care related topic, but I would just like to ask the world why, when it's been a really quiet and orderly week, the delivery time slot for a new piece of furniture, has collided with my husband's 2nd covid booster injection, so I'm going to have to deal with it, frozen shoulder, AF and osteoarthritis notwithstanding. Oh happy day! π€£
Hope you had a good week everyone, and that you'll find some rest and pleasure in the upcoming weekend. π
Hello Callendersgal and everyone on this rather wet day. The weeks are just flying by with lots of talk about Christmas now. Weβre ok and keeping as well as possible. Our youngest son and our daughter have had birthdays which were lovely family celebrations. A quiet week otherwise.
Hope all goes well with the furniture delivery and I will be thinking of you.
Have a great weekend everyone. Xxπππ€π₯°πβ€οΈ
Thanks sassy59 and happy to hear about the family birthday celebrations. It's good to have some happy occasions to look forward to, to keep us going. Unusually for me I'm well ahead with Christmas shopping. I've ordered something from India for my husband and waiting with 'bated breath to see if it gets here! And I have something on order for me from USA. I was thinking the other day that you can literally track down anything these days and if you are willing to pay for it, it will eventually turn up at your door. I wonder what would happen if I ordered a camel? π€£. πππππΈxxx

Those furniture places have a knack for delivering at the worst possible times don't they?
Here we are all fine and Baby is well and we are all looking forward to going away to Weston tomorrow and are just finishing up the packing and we are coming back Monday lunchtime.
This is our first time away from home since February 2020 just before everything shut down in the March which was shocking!
Yesterday myself and my friends met up in town to look at jobs together and do some mock interviews and had treated ourselves to breakfast out which we a enjoyed and had a wander round the town and decided to pop into the Marriott to see if they had restarted the Sunday carveries and the chap said no they aren't doing those for now and I said it was no problem and perhaps we might see them another time in the future which leaves the door open with them.
Personally I would rather hear an honest no in advance rather than being led on when people make up excuses and tell me what I want to hear and then slam the door in my face!
I would rather be told an honest no in advance than be led to believe I am getting something and then at the last minute no I'm not and getting the door slammed in my face like I did back in 2019 at the Beefeater in Swansea!
What had happened was I had booked a table for 5.30pm we got there and there was no booking and I had shouted at them and there had been a scene in front of everyone as well!
They did offer us a table for 9pm though but we told them to forget it and had sandwiches instead!
If we had turned up without having booked and told sorry we are full I wouldnt have been cross and would have said perhaps another time like I did at the Marriott yesterday over the Sunday carveries.
With that Beefeater after the way they behaved that Saturday we won't be going back there but with the Marriott we are happy to go back to them another time.
It's not the things in themselves that cause problems it's the manner in how they are dealt with that does!
This weekend coming we have booked Sunday lunch out at a French bistro who have sent me a reminder e mail this morning about the booking and for tomorrow we'll leave the door open to go to anywhere that we fancy and say we turn up at a place without an appointment and they are full fair enough with that I won't feel cross and say perhaps another day leaving the door open.
In Weston lots of places have shut down like the claremonts wine bar which was an 80s style place that is getting turned into flats, the London Inn has shut down, the off the rails bar has shut down, the sea life centre has shut down as well.
Claremonts I wasn't surprised when I was told they had shut down as back in April we had walked past and it had looked shut with a for sale board up!
Today has been my first day at home for 3 months, flat looks like a tip as I'm not allowed to bend down until 8 weeks after surgery , so about 3 1/2 to go, so I've got a lot of food on tables so easily a cesdjbld, but I'm also getting help with social services which is good

Ho lovely to be getting a little break Catgirl1976. You deserve it so much after all the hard work you've put into your job hunting on top of the restrictions under which you've to operate for interviews etc. You're so right about furniture deliveries. Sometimes it feels like a plot against you..... π

I remember many years ago when I worked in catering Cook had ended up in tears of frustration due to problems with a furniture delivery!
Back home safe and sound from Weston and yes I did enjoy being away a lot more due to having to have waited and the b and b was nice and cosy and the hosts were great and the other guests.
The owner of the b and b said to me how I'm right not to expect anything and she will do the same next week when they are shut as she needs a break as she hasn't been very well lately and says how since they reopened back in May she has had some really horrible guests staying there expecting things that weren't possible!
She had asked us could we do breakfast this morning at 9 rather than 9.30 as she had to go out and we said that was fine 9 was no bother for us.
She says the same as us that some people have used covid as a licence to be mean to others when there's no need for it!
We did everything on the list like going to the grand pier, walks along the seafront, Sunday lunch at the French bistrot where they said that had no Sunday roasts so we had other things instead and said about how we have learned due to covid not to expect anything!
This morning just before I got the train I had a lovely walk along the seafront which I enjoyed and I will go back to that b and b again in the future.
Premier inn I won't be visiting again as they are a rip off and have used covid as a licence to behave badly and we think their restaurants like Beefeater and Brewers Fayre are a rip off as well!
Back in 2019 we had booked at the Swansea beefeater and they had lost the booking and I had sworn at them and shouted at them as at the time it had felt like the world had ended and one friend had told me how when that happened they had done us a favour and had stopped us from getting ripped off there!
One things definite is we won't visit that restaurant again!
Many years ago when I was 21 I had stayed at a b and b in Cleethorpes which I had enjoyed when I had gone to a christening on the Sunday and my father hadn't been happy so I had suggested meeting with them in the town centre but that wasn't good enough either!
I can understand being disappointed but that kind of behaviour was spiteful and childish and why not have seen about rearranging with me for another time as I would have accepted an honest sorry I can't make it but be disappointed but ask would they like to rearrange and look forward to the rearranged event.
Point is with spiteful people paradoxically the people they hurt the most is themselves as if we had agreed to rearrange things could have been different.
Great stuff thara9643. Hopefully we'll all be able to travel a little more easily as time passes. I got a new one a few months ago as mine had run out, but for now it's totally redundant!
