Hi everyone, and welcome to Friday once again. And, as always, this is your chance to share whatever you wish with us all, just taking care to remain within guidelines.
A special good morning to anyone who has found us in the past week and please feel welcome here. We are very glad to have you here and happy to help you in any way we can. Most of us are, or have been, Carers in some capacity and know what an onerous undertaking it can be, with far less support than is deserved.
You'll see I've posted a poll this morning. It's based on one which was run some four years ago to ask what you'd wish to see in your Community, and please remember that it is yours.... I'm just here as the glue to try and keep it all together!
This seems never to have been the busiest of communities on HU and no wonder, as carers have very little spare time to devote to other activities, but since the start of the pandemic has become even quieter, and I'd hate to think we aren't providing the sort of support you are looking for.
So, whilst making your own posts today, please also take a moment or two to do the Poll, so we can take your views into consideration.
Have a good day today and I hope that it will be a good weekend for you all.
Good morning Callendersgal, I’ve voted and hope others do too. I don’t tend to post but will always try to reply to others. I am a member of the BLF forum too but rarely post there either. I do like being a member of this forum and would love to have more interaction with others. We all lead very busy lives in one way or another but it’s always good to hear from people.
Pete had his 4th vaccination on Tuesday and all went well. It’s good to know he’s further protected from covid considering the PM’s announcement this week.
I want to wish everyone a good day and great weekend. Spring is just around the corner.
It’s for people with a compromised immune system Lynd. An extra layer of protection if you like. Pete had Pfizer again. I’m his carer but don’t qualify. Xxxx
So pleased you managed to get out this morning Jennymary. I hope things improve well over time. Take care. Everything looks delicious by the way. Xxxx👌🏻
Great to hear you are back at your second home the country market as I know how much you enjoy going there!
Greetings from rainy Swansea!
Having a great time so far and had a rainy walk out this morning into the city centre and back to get some sandwiches from Tesco for later on and got soaked and ended coming back to the b and b to dry off!
Yesterday we went to the art gallery which we hadn't visited since just before everything shut down back in March 2020 which we enjoyed and were glad we did as nowadays they shut on a Tuesday as well as a Monday as originally we were going to have visited Tuesday morning before coming home so glad we went yesterday instead!
Another lesson learned from the pandemic is never assume things will be open and after an incident back in 2019 at the Beefeater when they lost our booking when you have booked something give them a ring or e mail them to make certain that yes they do have a place for you!
One thing is certain we won't visit that Beefeater place again and one of our friends said when they had lost the booking by accident they had done us a favour by stopping us from having been ripped off as they think those places are a rip off!
Yesterday we walked past there when we visited Swansea Marina and had felt that they had done us a favour when they lost that booking but at the time it felt like the world had ended!
If we had just turned up not having booked that Saturday evening back in 2019 I wouldn't have been cross and said ok maybe another time and there wouldn't have been any hard feelings but what did happen at the time had felt like the world had ended and they lost our business for good but as that door slammed shut others have opened!
Today's Sunday lunch we are hoping to go to a Thai restaurant not far from the b and b and we haven't made an appointment to go there so if there aren't places for us it's not the end of the world and we won't feel cross if it doesn't happen and say to them perhaps another day and leave it at that!
What makes me furious is when you are led to believe you are getting something and then right at the last minute the door is slammed shut in your face!
If you know in advance something has been put off say like back in 2020 when our autumn plans got shelved thankfully what was due to have happened that was taken away had been a few weeks away and I had become ever so upset but in a way was thankful the door hadn't been slammed shut in my face at the last minute as I had lots of time to have found something else and had ended up thanking the government as the day we had been due to have gone out it was raining and we ended up glad we had been spared from having to have worn those masks!
We did rearrange those things for the spring of 2021 though as days out and holidays can easily be rearranged for another day but sadly in life no matter how hard you try some things stolen away by the pandemic can't be replaced.
