Good morning everyone,
How's it gone this week? Are you all sun-worshippers or is anyone else like me and just wilting for the past couple of days? I suppose that after my years in the tropics I should be better practiced with heat, but it is a matter of acclimatisation and also that our homes aren't equipped with anti-heat devices like air conditioning, something I relied heavily upon in my former life.
It's felt a bit 'brave new world' after the new freedoms about to be given back to us. Are you confident enough to go shopping yet? I've mastered that now, but I can't imagine in my wildest dreams wanting to visit a pub or restaurant yet. Quite apart from anything else it just doesn't seem sociable enough for me. I wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy a meal. It's hard enough dodging others in a supermarket. But we have to find a way back somehow. Not too sure why so many people wanted to pack like sardines on some of our beaches either, but do understand the longing to return to some kind of normality.
My hairdresser rang yesterday to invite me to make an appointment which I've done, and they are going to work a 7 day week in two shifts to allow for the social distancing aspect. They will wear masks and customers can choose whether to or not. So, unusually, I'll be having my hair cut on Sunday 12th July!
In the Caring realm, my sister is having to trail after her husband to make sure he washes his hands properly. She's tried to din it into him, but his dementia means he doesn't really have much comprehension of what's been going on for the past few months, and she discovered he was dangling his hands under the tap and calling it a day. I suggested she just rub his hands over with sanitiser frequently, as a second level of protection, now that it's more readily available again. Anyone else got any good ideas?
I hope that it's been a good week for you all. If not, please share your concerns with us. But otherwise enjoy the weekend, as best you can and all take care, as usual. 🔆😎
