As a nation we're famous for not only its changeability but our habit of discussing it at length. In happier times many of us can't wait to flee our native land and fly off to anywhere that will promise us some sunshine.
One thing's for certain. We can't control the weather, and yesterday compared to today is an example of how quickly it can change.
But how does anyone define 'bad' weather? I can no longer tolerate extreme heat or extreme cold (I think my thermostat's stopped working in my old age!) So what's good for me may not be good for someone else.
Here's what that man of many talents, John Ruskin, said about the weather.
"Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather".
I'm inclined to agree. What about you?
Please have a happy day, whatever the weather sends us!
Mmm I’ve pondered that Callendersgal and I don’t agree with the wonderful John Ruskin. When I used to be out in the pouring rain, the cold and/or the snow I would be miserable. I don’t like extremes of weather but I’m much happier when the sun shines.
Have a great day. I’m waiting for Asda to bring food. Xxxx😀💖🌈
Hi sassy59! No doubt about it, we're all different. I've even just found one member of the PWB who, like me, enjoys short winter evenings. I thought I was almost unique! 😁 Hope your grocery delivery comes OK. (Also had a member on PWB say what a thrill it is these days to have a grocery delivery!)
I agree completely! I guess the reason I tend to prefer dry sunny days is because I love gardening and being outside and it just allows me to carry that out.
However, living in this country, we try to embrace all kinds of weather and as long as we have our water and wind proof coats on, we don't let much stop us from venturing outside. Having a dog helps as he needs a walk each day. Also, wintry or autumnal landscapes can be beautiful.
Very true Hellebelle. We just see houses but will be going for some good walks when we can. Pete is shielding for now so we’ll see what the future holds.
