I can't find the post you made about the help you'd had from your Co-op with grocery deliveries, but just wanted to say a public 'thanks' to you, for flagging up the fact that the Co-op does seem to be proactive with vulnerable people in isolation who haven't been able to get groceries delivered.
As a result of that mention, I've been able to help my sister to get some deliveries and saved her a huge amount of stress.
So it's worth saying to anyone else who's having difficulty. You may be able to get help by calling the manager of your nearest local Co-op store.
I have to say that I've found that smaller stores have been much more helpful all round that the big 6 supermarkets.
Take care Lynd. I hope that you and your husband, and all our Care Community members are having a good day today. Continue to stay safe and stay well.
Hi sassy59, thanks. It's been desperate for her. She's been managing with the help of a really lovely son-in-law and a marvellous neighbour, but she was diffident about asking too often or for too much heavy stuff (to be honest I don't think either of them minded at all, but I know how she felt). But this is a great solution for her, and I think the Co-op might gain a little customer loyalty for their help, later on! xxx
In the previous post I was talking about our council were taking calls for people who need shopping and are vulnerable.
I need to shield my husband.
You ring the council
They send you a list of items to choose from. You ring the council with your order and they pass it to the coop. The coop ring you. You pay for your items and a volunteer delivers the shopping to you.
I am not sure if this is nationwide but it is a huge relief for me.
Also I have read our local Lions group are delivering to the over seventies.
This must be how our ancestors felt when on the hunt for food 😁
