This is a sad moment for me, as I have recently taken the decision to leave the Care Community.
For some time now I’ve been struggling to find time for hobbies and other interests, because, frankly, as I’m getting older, it takes me longer and longer to do things, made worse by my arthritis and atrial fibrillation which both slow we down too.
I also feel that the group has lost its mojo a bit since the start of the pandemic. For many members other concerns in life have taken a priority and I haven’t been able to really revive the interest and spirit which once existed here.
So just to let you know that I shall no longer be here from tomorrow, Friday (4th March), but I do want to pass on my thanks to all of you who have supported me and the group during my time here. It’s been a sincere pleasure to get to know you all, to interact with you and to have been able to help out a little bit with Care concerns, now and again, as well as get advice for my own family and friends.
Sending especial love to all current carers. It’s the toughest of all jobs to do and it’s generally done with so much love and compassion for people who are in their deepest hours of need.
Wishing everyone happiness and contentment in future, and strength to get through this dark period of time for the world.
Take care everyone, and many blessings to you all.
that is not good news at all. I am sure you have grossly underestimated your contribution of kindness and common sense in what seems at times to be a world of heartless ignoramuses
thank you so much for all your help and i hope you will enjoy having more time to live you life as you would like to , you've deserved it
Thank you so much Freda! You've always been one of my most loyal supporters and a lady of immense help and good sense. I will really miss everyone here and sorry to go, but sadly, it's time! Thanks so much for your good wishes. Sue
Very best wishes for a long & happy retirement . I ceased physically caring when my wife went into care over 2 years ago, she died last November. You were of great help during my caring period. Bill Crowfoot
Thank you so much Bill! I'm humbled that I did help you a bit during your caring years. I hope that you'll stick around in the community and help provide your insight into the difficulties of caring. Take care and every good wish to you for the future! Sue
Thank you for all you have done on here supporting everyone, myself included. I wish you a happy retirement full of things you enjoy doing. I shall miss seeing your posts although I don't come on here as much as I used to since my dad died nearly 3 years ago
Hi Karen, Thank you so much for your good wishes. It's understandable that you don't spend as much time here as you used to. You had a tough journey of your own in caring, while looking after your dad. I hope you'll check back in now and again and provide the benefits of your knowledge where needed. You were always a really supportive member of the group and I always enjoyed your contributions. Take care, and every good wish for the future. Sue
I do look from time to time. We now have my husband's parents who are struggling but still at home. We have come to see then this week and are sitting with Mike's mum as I write this whilst his dad goes for a hair cut. So sad and difficult again but I don't think anything could be as bad as it was with my dad.
Gosh it goes on doesn’t it! I know you had the hardest possible time with your dad and hope that things will go more smoothly for you this time. Take care Karen and thank you again! Xx
Hi Sue, I just want to echo what everyone else thinks of you as you have been very supportive to me in the last few years and I can look on at you as a very special friend and you will always have a place in my heart . So I wish you the very best in whatever you do , but I know you will be busy doing this that and the other . Love C. x
Hi Sue, thank you for all the support you offered while my mum lived with dementia, and when I lost her nearly 2 yrs, ago, wishing you a, long, happy retirement also sending best wishes to the rest of your family ❤️🍾🍰🍷🍵
Thank you so much Jenny. It’s been a pleasure knowing you and sending all good wishes for your continuing road to recovery and the future. All the best! Sue
I'm sorry you have decided to leave but you have to do what you feel is the right thing for you.
You have been a great friend to me since the pandemic kicked off back in March 2020 and thank you for that and I wish you all well for the future.
I decided to leave the anxiety and depression board as all it did was upset me so I feel that was the right choice for me.
Best wishes for the future!

I wish you all the very for the future and I would like to thank you for all your kind and wise advice. It won't be the same without you! I do understand though that this role must be very time consuming and that you need to pursue your own interests. We need some joy in this world, particularly with what is happening at the moment. Sending lots of love to you and gratitude for the enormous contribution you have made to this community.❤

Thank you Helen and thank you too for all of your experienced help and advice. You’ve helped so many people including my own sister and I hope you’ll stay around and continue! Take care, Sue

Hi Sue,
I would like to thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the site and the people who use it. It can't have been easy at times, sometimes quite distressing I would think.
I know what you mean about how HU has changed, even in the short time I have been a member. I've now taken Early Ill Health Retirement and trying to get my head around everything, including finances. I have been thinking about my own future here and am thinking about leaving. I have other activities that are taking my time as well as my many health issues.
I would like to wish you well for the future and you can always come back to visit :).
Ahh so sorry you've decided to leave us, you will be sadly missed, as I've loved reading your posts, and feel very grateful to receive your advice, take care love Larraine pole xx
Best wishes for your future retirement Sue and enjoy every minute! I have only been a member since my sister went into care during COVID but your kind words have meant a lot to me and I can tell you are a very caring and thoughtful person looking out for others but now you need to look out for yourself, as life is too short unfortunately.
Thank you from myself, my sister and love from baby Jacob who was one year old a few weeks ago and my husband enjoyed his 70th birthday last week despite all his illnesses. We were all together at his birthday meal 👏👏👏👏👏 Enjoy your hobbies and interests and your own family 🥰🥰🥰
Whilst I have never communicated directly with you, I have often read your posts and been comforted by your care and concern for the people who have reached out to you. I have also been grateful for your knowledge and and advice and I am sure you will be greatly missed.
I genuinely believe that most people will reach "burn out" at some point or another in their lives and they have to take a step back to prioritise their own needs and so I wish you nothing but peace, enjoyment and a happy future as you move forwards with your life.
Thank you for everything you have done - take very good care of yourself!
I'm sure Callendersgal that you will be very sadly missed by All the members of your community of Carers and helpers in their duty of devoted care. However like you say there is a time when it's getting too hard & to continue due to health conditions & concerns you have, I agree that everyone needs an interest or hobby in life, it's what keeps us focused on the good & keep the negatives at bay! Crafting is a great positive healer and creative, though I'm trying that myself it's getting more difficult for me to cope in my flat with 6 flights of stairs to climb several times a day due to my dog 🐶 having to do her bissies, & struggling with heavy shopping bags! I'm struggling with my Fatigue & it's becoming more painful 😖, so am thinking 💭 about moving on to a ground floor flat or a bungalow would be nice!Anyways take care Callendersgal and enjoy your retirement duties, & enjoy some me time with an interest in what you want to do, bless you, you've been a rock for a lot of people in our community of friends, Vey best wishes from me n Cass🐶🙏X
Thank you for all the caring and concern, you will be missed. Many blessings to you and I hope you use your energy to pursue things that give you pleasure. xo💕
Yes the truth always stings doesn't it but with all due respect the world doesn't revolve around covid though!
So sad , but can understand why , cannot thank you enough when Mum had dementia the last 5 yrs of her life , you and this group were my Life Saver and Go To place when I needed help answers and Comfort , So God Bless , Take care , and Enjoy every day while you Can ,
