Well my dad is finger food but sometimes feed.
Trying to find bowl dish that’s dementia frendly is quite a mission
Have had some success WITH red cups bowls BUT handles are always Issue IF it’s not Handle it’s price.
I think given shear numbers U.K. and hospital’s need to step up.
Anyway picture is of bowl am going to trial APPARENTLY you can’t go wrong as sits between thumb and fingers
Researching bowl 🍲 guess it’s like a Asian Dendashi bowl
The dish/bowl looks good JAS and I hope it works well for your dad. It is difficult to find just the right implements for independent dementia sufferers. I’m sure your dad likes to feel he can still do things.
Thanks for the dish idea Jeff ,let us know how it goes. As for cups their handles and weights are so varied, even plastic ones, it is very much finding one that suits the person as all our hands are different. There are many to be found on line. With arthritic hands you need wide handles and light cups, with dementia the reduction of spillage is more important, but those with lids on are very old fashioned as you imply yourself. Keep looking as I am sure you will find ones better than the more recent ones the NHS use. Good luck
Hi JAS,
As usual you are being your very thoughtful self in looking for the right dish to help your dad. Its design looks good and I hope it will turn out to be the one that assists your dad with eating. As katieoxo60 said in her reply, there are an awful lot out there and it might depend on what mobility an individual's hands have, as to whether it's the right one for all, but definitely it looks as if it's worth a try for your own dad.
And how like you to research further and find that it's based on an Asian Dendashi bowl! Thanks for sharing the information with us.
