Warm wishes to you too. I am sure that you have read my recent posts. It has been a very odd week but this forum has given me such amazing support and love that I can only be thankful that I found it. AliBee xx

Hi MAS_Nurse

I really hope that every single one in our community managed to find moments of enjoyment in the Christmas season. I had a lovely happy family time this year, but somehow as I get older, I do find myself thinking more of those who don't have any cause for happiness or a celebratory season, and underneath it all there's a frustration about the mercenary way in which we are all targeted to believe that this must be a happy time of year for each of us.

It's almost with a sense of relief that I'm getting back to normal now and that in a few days' time we'll be writing our first few words in the diary of 2019!

i know just how you feel. Such a demand for the perfect Christmas but at the same time so many people seem to shut themselves behind closed doors with their families. I am looking forward to choir and the Hospice garden starting again and in the mean time I am having along overdue clear out. Unfortunately my very shy rescue cats took exception to the smell of new paint in my bedroom and expressed their annoyance in the usual cat fashion. No doubt they thought they were helping by replacing a threatening paint smell by sonething more familiar to make it seem more like home. ( a job I was clearly not up to). I got out of a nice hot bath on a cold wet December night ready to snuggle into a warm bed only to be gteeted by a cat sitting on the duvet, where she is not allowed, peeinng copiously and staring at me in a meaninful manner. There was a full and frank exchange of views and both cats spent the next 24 hours outside for their own safety. They have several warm places to sleep outside but insisted on being martyrs cramming themseles in cold draughty nooks near the front door. They got no sympathy from me whatsoever. As I pointed out to them my bed had been vandalised and was hanging dripping over the bath where it would stay for several days whereas they had a choice of warm places to sleep.

Happy New Year to everyone

Yes, quite right FredaE. If cat lovers don't watch themselves, they end up with the cats running the household and us doing their bidding!

A very happy and peaceful New Year to you too.

What's that saying? Dogs have masters and cats have staff?

Indeed FredaE.... or.... 'Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you.'

Hello MAS_Nurse, hope you had a good Christmas. We had a lovely time until Boxing Day afternoon when Pete had terrible stomach problems.

I ended up dialling 999 and Pete was checked out in hospital. He had a nasty bout of diverticulitis so has yet more antibiotics. He’s doing better now though.

I hope that next week and indeed next year brings better news.

Happy new year to you and everyone on this great forum. Xxxx

It's been a challenging time again for you sassy59, and it's awful how crises like this latest one will happen at any moment and turn a happy occasion into one of great concern. But as usual, you got Pete the help he so needs, as quickly as possible, so you can breathe a bit of a sigh of relief that you have helped get him back on track again. Thanks for the New Year wish to us all, and likewise may 2019 be a good year for you and all of your family.

Up and down Christmas here with mom not at all good. Doctor visited but sats, temperature, pulse, lungs all ok. Think sweats she is having may have triggered TIA or fit? Taken duvet out of quilt cover and that is better but it has taken its toll on her. Back to syringing food (unless its ice cream!) I know she can't go on forever but it's breaking my heart to see her and to go through this. Nurses trying Pico dressings on her pressure sores, but think these are the least of her worries. Trying to stay strong. What an emotional rollercoaster caring is.
