Hi wonder if anyone out there is concerned about respite. I have a holiday booked...got my visa...got my pets sorted out....but l have been told that social services can't sort respite out for my mum who has dementia until 2weeks before l go. I don't know if it is just Kings Lynn council that is cutting back on this as they will be closing a respite home for children later this year. I have no other family to turn to...it's causing me a lot of stress. Which is not the purpose of respite....l have not had this worry in past years.

Hi onlymeandthepets, and welcome to the forum. I have done some research for you and Norfolk ageuk provides a weekly list of known care home vacancies for respite care. It is called Care Home Finder Service. ageuk.org.uk/norfolk/...ser....
I hope you have a lovely holiday. Please stay on this forum where other members will be along to offer help and support. Thank you and best wishes.
Unfortunately, cutbacks at the top have filtered down to Councils who run the Social Services; Social workers are burning out because of excessive demands and are leaving, which means there are less to do more work. It's a bad situation, stressful for all, but not a lot we can do right now.
