On going ear infection
Hi David.
Ear infections have been the route of all evil in relation to my right ear, the reason my hearing is poor, the reason I have ongoing tinnitus and the reason I'm on this forum : )
I live in constant fear of when the next infection is coming because I know how badly they effect me and the result they consequently have on my hearing/tinnitus/quality of life. I pray (although I don't 'pray') that I don't get an infection at the moment as contacting GP's and ENT's are close to impossible.
I was given Otomize for the first time this February and have had distracting tinnitus ever since, I find it hard to believe there is no connection.
So yes, I've had infections and and after 40 years of them the damage is done.
All the best,
Ian.
Hi Ian thanks for your response I only get them rarely but when I do as you say tinnitus goes into over drive I started with Otomize then when it wasn’t clearing up my Dr put me on antibiotics ear drops which I have been on for about 5 days I am going to see my doctor tomorrow as I think I need oral antibiotics as well how long do your infections last ?
David
Length of infections vary, I stopped using Otomize after 4/5 days when it was clear the tinnitus had reached new levels all of a sudden. I was then given bog standard oral Amoxicillin and the infection disappeared quickly.
I can always tell now if an infection is brewing, I get that fullness and cloggy blocked ear sensation for about a week. A build up of wax in the past has also caused infections to occur.
I get my ears micro suctioned private as the NHS you have to wait going private I can choose when I need to do you wear hearing aids ? I do the NHS white noise ones I try and clean my domes as they get dirty which I haven’t done lately but I must be strict to prevent ear infection.
David
I don't have hearing aids as of yet, although I've been told I could qualify with my level of hearing. Could you send me a private message please regarding the private healthcare micro suctioning you receive, I'd be interested to know more.
I work for the NHS so in no way am I laying any blame, but an appointment was cancelled for me last year, within the space of 5 months waiting for the next one I had a build up of wax - that by and large led to the position I'm in now. So annoying!
