Bad few weeks with chest

Hi everyone. I joined 3 months ago been in the back ground reading and learning from this wonderful group.Last few weeks I've had a flare up chest infection with bronchiectasis i found out by CT scan i had this plus peribronchial fibrosis after catching covid19 March 2020. Long covid has change my fun active life. I've taken my rescue pack however the stabbing pain in my left higher back area and front chest is refusing to leave me. I have been given prednisone to take 8 each day.. I forgot to ask do I take them all at once? Does anyone know on here? I ve had so much problems clearing mucus it hurts. carbocisteine syrup med normally works but I'm coughing more and mucus if faint yellow. Consultant refused to supply me a nebuliser as my body too weak as other conditions now .. Thanks in advance

hi, sorry to hear you’ve joined the bronchiectasis club! The answer is yes, you must take all 8 tablets at the same time, as soon as you wake up. Don’t leave until later or it can interfere with your sleep.

I’m sorry you are having such a rough time. As eleanordigby said take all pred first thing in the morning. Have you seen a physio to help you get the gunk up out of your lungs? If not as for a referral. In the meantime look up active cycle of breathing on YouTube. If your mucus turns green you probably have another infection (or the same one back again) and you will need antibiotics to clear it. Do join the lung conditions thread too. There’s plenty with Bronchiectasis on there and hopefully you will learn from them. Good luck you can get control of this and get on with your life again.

HiYes I've seen a physio, mucus gone back to yellow, if goes back green I've got another rescue pack. Lol just couldn't tag lungs group when I'm ill I go down fast..pain in back top left needs to also go. We are fighters however

Yes take steroids all together,with food & as early as poss.have u seen a respiratory physio to teach u how best to clear lungs x
