Hello, I'm sorry you've got a difficult time at the moment, there's numerous reasons why folk become addicted to alcohol, it's like peeling layers from an onion, and everything has to be broken down and use baby steps to continue a healthy lifestyle.Often underlying issues can start this journey into the life of a person who struggles with alcohol, it's like doing a crossword without the clues and then trying to get someone back into a normal routine,is the exact opposite way from someone who has become stuck in this cycle of drinking
It's a vicious circle once the heavy drinking occurs, and trying to break it needs outside support, and that includes yourself, I'm more than happy to try and give you advice, and hopefully you'll get some more replies soon, there's so much damage long term drinking causes, you can see what's happening in real time, and the future also can be uncharted territory, certain health problems arise and this is something that needs to be addressed if your daughter manages to stay sober, once again thinking of your daughters difficulties 🙏
If you can get your daughter some help in coming off alcohol she has a real chance of improving her livers health and even turning her life around. Hard for you to watch but as previous post said getting her outside help to quit is an option worth looking into other than spiralling to an early death. Sending you much love and hope you are able to talk with your daughter about getting help xx
Hi Lisa another thought. Could you try swapping her alcohol with 0% versions to see if she can wean off that way, has anyone else tried this as we have noticed more 0% options in the alcohol Isles, it could be a real game changer in helping those addicted to alcohol withdraw xx
Just be aware that transplant units (if it comes to t/p assessment for those with ARLD) take this as a sign patients haven't broken away from the drinking habit and they are seen as a potential 'trigger' for a return to drinking the real thing as they will never quite cut the mustard as regards taste or effect. They can hinder/delay acceptance for listing.
