Hi everyone, I'm a bit unsure, my GP has just prescribed me with Duloxetine for the pain in my neck and shoulder (i was informed the pain was due to my liver disease) and it just won't go away. But reading up on taking Duloxetine it says not to take as it's been stated that it can actually cause liver damage. I'm now not sure whether to take it ? Or why it was prescribed to me. Is there anyone else on here taking it .

Hi LolaBow,
This is a question that your own health care professional is best placed to answer, as only they have access to your medical records.
Only your own healthcare professional can advise you on taking medication.

I take naproxen for my back and it says the same. Just about everything says check liver. My specialist though not ok with it is happier when I use lidocaine patches. 1 over 12hrs so I use at night and naproxen day time. I don't take/use all the time. Only when I can't stand the pain or and so tired from lack of sleep from it.
If in doubt check with specialist 1st this is what my GP does with anything they prescribe for me.
Hi Lola I have been taking it for 7 years now I take it for nerve pain that I was left with when I came out of a coma the liver consultant prescribed it along with amitriptyline and I have found it effective. 🥰

HiIf you aren't sure if something, check with your specialist who will have your notes to hand. If I'm worried about anything I go to my GP who will get in touch with the hospital. I've also phoned my consultant's secretary who has been able to email my consultant who will either want to see me or give me advice on what I can do next. xx
