recovering from Hepatitis E ?

I have Hepatitis E. Ihad beenn feeling so very fatigued for a couple of weeks. I went to the GP and had bloods taken, The very next morning I was sent to hospital with deranged liver function test results . The ALT and ALP were up in the 900 plus mark 733 respectively I think. I had some bloods taken at the hospital, had a chat with doctors. Usual history taking I guess. It was suggested that would have a contrast CT scan n the basis I have a strong family history of liver cancer.

A couple of days later I have got a call to say that i have tested positive for Hepatitis E. I am totally shocke, after further reading this is likely from contaminated water, or undercooked Pork and shellfish.

The Drs have asked me to go back in one weeks time, for more bloods and monitoring. My question is has any one had Hep E and if so how long did it take to recover ? I would be interested to hear anyones story here.

I have drunk more than I should have in the past, but my concern is the birds have come home to roost so to speak, Now Im really no longer interested in drinking.

any info re recovery would be welcomed

Hi,I have had hep E in the past without even knowing I had it! In the previous years I have definitely had some food poisoning here and there but symptoms have never been longer than 1-2 days having the typical symptoms, so I can't even pinpoint when and where I got it from! My antibody hep E results showed up on my blood tests which led me confused. I didn't even know such letter existed for it.

Hi Nik1133, now I am even more confused. I have not had more than the odd bug here and there throughout my life with regard to tummy bugs, the usual on and off loo (sorry if too much information). I absolutely have not had any symptoms of that kind of bug for a good few years.

I am at a loss to know where I could of picked this up. Also i am interested how you got the Hep E results?
