Good afternoon.

I was wondering if anybody would know what kind of socks I could use for my husband?

He had cirrhosis of the liver and his legs swell really bad, all socks we have tries leave really bad indents and make his legs very sore, if anybody has any they could suggest I would really appreciate it

TIA

You can actually get oedema socks for this purpose. It may be possible to see an oedema nurse who can assess and sort you out with correct products.

On cheap socks I would slice them down the side.

On hospital discharge I had to do that. Thankfully with diuretics the swelling reduced. Hopefully that will happen for your husband. Salt intake should also be restricted.

Socks described as "diabetic socks" have loose baggy tops.Check on amazon.

My husband has enormous calves and struggles with socks in general. He buys diabetic socks and they work well for him. I think they come from Amazon, and I also think they are made from bamboo. The ones he has go part way up the calf and are black with a grey band at the top. They are not particularly hard wearing but in all other respects they are excellent so he keeps buying them.

There is a company called Bam that sells these. But they aren’t cheap

Instead of socks checkout tubes on Amazon, they can be cut to a special length. Most important thing is to measure the calf.

My husband has the same problem. We bought extra-wide diabetic socks from Coopers of Stortford. Happy with them, don’t leave marks and they wash well. These are the only socks he is able to wear now.
