Hello,

Restless legs syndrome can accompany many conditions, such as diabetes, vascular diseases, iron deficiency, vitamins and microelements deficiency. In each case, it is necessary to establish the probable cause and attempt to eliminate it. What causes your father's restless legs? He probably has liver disease and that’s why you’re writing here?

Hi Olivia,

I too have RLS. What helps me is Hyland's "Restful Legs" homeopathic (OTC - no RX needed). Of course, ask his dr. if that is okay for his health conditions. I take 3 every night about 30-45 min. before bedtime. Hope it helps! PS You can buy it in any pharmacy, I get mine from Amazon. Lynne

Hi OliviaAside from other suggestions, tonic water can help (the quinine in it). It helps me slightly with restless legs and also a foot massager before bed. I have a cheap battery operated one which helps with circulation.

All the best

ok, another home remedy that helps me with both RLS and leg-muscle cramps at night. I elevate the head of my bed (helps the blood flow thru a damaged liver to the legs). I also use a heated blanket under my legs (knees down) as the heat also helps blood circulation . Muscle cramps in the middle of the night? I take Hyland's Muscle Cramp reliever (like the one for RLS, also OTC. Again, ask your husband's doc. first. As others have suggested, many causes (anemia is one of my chronic issues. I have been problem solving these issues for a long time and, for me, sleep is crucial to well-being and health! Good luck! Lana

When I had anemia years ago (unrelated to liver) I had crazy making restless legs. My anemia required a transfusion and the restless legs disappeared as soon as that was done.
