hi all, i had ultra sound and Doc said it was fatty liver. I told him i was currently being treated for bladder cancer and he said I needed to go back to GP . GP has now done more bloods and i suspect she is testing for liver cancer. Initially I had an ALT of 37 and it increased to 52. All other liver tests were ok. Am i panicking too soon, i feel terrified. Thankyou for listening
Fatty Liver: hi all, i had ultra sound... - British Liver Trust
Fatty Liver
firstly don’t panic - 52 is only just above normal, when my nafld was found it was 200 and its stable now around 100. The ALT reading varies because it can increase if you’re unwell or you’ve eaten something, it’s just the liver not liking something. More blood tests would be to test the ALT again and to check your whole lipid profile (fats in blood) like cholesterol, gamma gt, triglycerides so they have a whole picture. I was diagnosed in my 30s and I’m now 56. I was put on statins and BP meds to protect me. I hope you get a good outcome, as you’re going through too much already.
Thankyou so much for your reassurance. I am finding the “what ifs” are really nagging at the moment. Waiting for test results is always anxious. I hope to hear today and then at least i will know what if anything i am dealing with. Your reply has helped me get a little more perspective. Thankyou, I hope you are keeping well. Best wishes .

Hi , I am waiting for GP to call to review my latest bloods. I have been told ALT is now 37 but my white cells and neutrophils are elevated. Neutrophils 7.7 , I really dont want to google as i am already anxious that i may have liver cancer. Any advice please
Dear Halofan1
Test results vary according to both the individual’s whole health and the laboratory analysing the results and should always be interpreted by the user’s own health care professionals.
We suggest talking this through with your own doctor or health care professional when they are able to get back to you.

Thankyou so much , that is really helpful
Hi reading your article and results please stay away from Dr Google as this will send you climbing walls and not giving you the right diagnosis and what to do. Give the Liver Nurses a ring as they can give you sound advice.
Thanks Mick 1414, I will definitely stay away from Google , it is frightening. I was hoping to get results today but due to backlog because of outage, its likely a couple of days. I will have to hold my nerve a bit longer. Thankyou for your support
