Hi, I havent got hepatologist appointment even after 4 months. Hospital is saying I am in the waiting list. I am experiencing a consistent pain my upper right abdomen. They ordered few blood tests. As per doctors my LFT is normal. I don't even know how it will help me. My LFT was normal back in January as well. I have lost nearly 18kg since January. Its getting overwhelming now, all I am asking them to tell me what's wrong with me so I can ficus on helping me out to resolve the issue. Is the waiting time of getting Hospital appointment is always this long?

Upper right quadrant pain can be any one of a number of things.

There are no pain receptors in your liver, so any pain you feel could be inflammation/swelling irritating the glissons capsule, the fascia that surrounds your liver, gallbladder, spleen and pancreas, so it could be any one of a number of issues. Weight loss + pain doesn't immediately mean liver problems as the liver is such a complex organ that you would likely have other symptoms long before the pain and weight loss. Have you had any other tests or symptoms that indicate liver issues?

While you wait for an appt, do all the usual things; avoid alcohol, eat well, regular gentle exercise. Your LFT being normal is a good sign.
