Cancellation of appointment

Hi, I got first appointment date with liver specialist on 09/10/2023 which was awefulky long waiting time. After this date they will refer me for a Fibroscan. Today I have received a letter and my appointment was cancelled automatically. There is no indication for the next date. Is this normal? I wonder what if I have something serious. It doesn't seems like NHS care.. please advise

Hi there, I’m sorry you’re going through this right now and it does appear to be more common with the NHS with cancelled appointments, I assume you’re refering to the the NHS services? I absolutely love our NHS, and those that work in it, they are all super stars, but it’s at breaking point now and has been for a while which is a sad indictment of how our country is ran by the jokers in government/positions of power. I’ve found when it comes to my hospital and doctors and even my own GP, you’ve got to be very pushy and demand to see a doctor/someone and push for tests, they can’t ignore you or keep putting you on some huge waiting list to be seen. Many people are turning to private doctors, but it’s so costly. When I was recovering from alcoholism, I attended an alcohol and drug recovery place and every 2 weeks they would have someone there with a fibro scan machine you could just book an appointment with to be checked over, yet our own NHS is struggling to fit people in. I hope you get seen to sooner and it’s positive news, good luck!

I have quite often had appointments cancelled and the revised email & date follows some time after. Obviously if you don’t get a new appointment letter after a week or so give them a ring.

This works.Google your consultant or look them up on doctify.com.

You now have the phone number of his private secretary!!!

Call and usually they can sort it out right away but if not call often and make a right pain of yourself.

The ones who shout loadest get priority unfortunately.

Hi SShally,You should receive an alternative date when theu cancel your appointment. I would call to chase this up.
