just got done with my follow up apt. Dr had suggested genetic counseling to see why my numbers remain a few points from normal since it’s been about 9 years. Has anyone done this type of testing,,. Dr said my numbers aren’t concerning but still 5 points from normal he reviewed them with me and they have been like this since 2014….. he’s baffled that he can’t find a liver disease to assign me with. We reviewed my diet, cholesterol is a little high. I’m going on a cholesterol diet and he wants me to retest after that… he said no Tylenol at all. He said do not have more then 2-4 alcoholic beverages a month (easy for me since I’m mostly a teetotaler) except I had 2 on a vacation a few weeks ago,
how long have your enzymes been elevat... - British Liver Trust
how long have your enzymes been elevated?
My liver enzymes have been high to very high for over 15 years, all the tests, scans and biopsy have shown no reason, the conclusion is it’s just normal for me so no further action.
that’s interesting. Does your dr tell you to
Do anything differently? Mine tells me no Tylenol minimal alcohol that’s about it
Have you had your iron levels checked?
Hi, I was tested for alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency at the same time as I was tested for AIH and PBC. It’s a genetic condition. I was positive so the rest of the family got tested. Weirdly my parents were both negative. I’m not adopted so the consultant said “well all genetic conditions start somewhere”. Luckily my husband also tested negative so my kids will be carriers but not have the condition themselves.
It’s worth considering because of the implications for your children if you have any, but it can also affect insurance so it may be better not to know.
