Compensated Cirrhosis

During annual medical tests in Feb 2024:

- Saw elevated Liver Enzymes, Hi bilirubinFibroscan (ordered by Dr) Stage 2 Fatty Liver, LSM 12.8, Early eosphageal varices, normal platelets (low end of normal)

- Compensated Child-A Cirrhosis

- Diabetic, high Cholesterol, hi triglycerides Hypertension: All numbers were high

Taking Medicines for all.

Advised exercise, weight loss, healthy diet (high protein). Saroglitazar (PPAR agonist), Vitamin E.

After 3 months

- Liver Enzymes normal

- Bilirubin almost normal

- Hba1c, Blood pressure, Cholesterol normal , Still high triglycerides

Will do Fibroscan in 2 months

Would like guidance on what to do reverse my liver stiffness other than what I am doing (exercise, weight loss, healthy diet (high protein), Taking Medicines listed above)

Just to Add:

I do not drink. Seems to be due my metabolic syndrome/MASLD(NASH/NAFLD)

Well done on your progress, that’s amazing. I reduced my fibroscan score from 22.2kpa to a 9 and have one tomorrow as it’s my 6 months check up. All I did was not drink, exercise regularly and try and eat a healthy balanced diet, that and I remained positive throughout which can help in that you’re not stressing your liver and creating extra good enzymes for your entire body when you try and remain calm, positive and energetic. Your platelets being normal even if they are lower than the higher range is a good sign as mine were too and along with other things and that’s why they are now saying I have moderate fibrosis and not cirrhosis, although I still have scarring. Hopefully that may be the case for you, my liver damage was caused by alcohol. Good luck and take care.

What you eat seams to be a huge part. And if there are other complicating factors. My wifes was rapid weight loss from COVID that caused her issues. From Nov 2020 to June 2021 she went from F3 Fibrosis to F1 (biopsys)

Update:

I got a fibroscan today after being on the medication and healthy lifestyle regimen and hoping to see improvement.

To my utter horror and shock, the liver stiffness is 74 kpa with the Fibroscan. It was 12.59kpa 3 months back with another non Fibroscan Transient Elastography.

The technician tested 2-3 times to confirm the numbers:-(

I am at loss as to what happened. My metabolic numbers have returned to normal/acceptable with my recent tests. How could my liver stiffness go off the chart in 3 months while under treatment?

My view of the possibilities:

- Rapid worsening of the condition

- Some other inflammation of the liver

- Operator measurement problem

I will meet my Doctor soon. Any clues/pointers will be much appreciated.
