Hi JamieGraceUK,

I'm just replying to say you're not alone on this forum and I'm sure someone will be able to help who is more knowledgeable than me. My husband has cirrhosis and other problems and was diagnosed last year so I'm new to this really.

I suppose the question that may be asked is what has come back abnormal your LFT is that out of whack? There are so many different stages and indicators with the liver I'm not sure what to say.

Why did you have bloods taken where you ill and went to GP? Are you a heavy drinker there's so many variables and im not a medical professional so cant advise professionaly im afraid.

To be honest I know it's scary before I quit drinking I went randomly for a liver function test about 14 years ago as I'd been drinking heavily to cope with my mums death and my LFT was way way over out of range so I cut down my drinking and eventually stopped altogether and my next LFT around 6 months later was within normal range so try not to worry too much at present until you know all the facts.

I'd ask GP for precise details their talking about and then talk to British Liver Trust Nurses if your GP can't fit you in. You are entitled to ask for what bloods results were.

The BLT are amazing and very supportive their number is on this forum.

Best of Luck

Thinking of you :)

It was coz I have learning difficulties and we get a blood test once a year. It was ALT was 346 and a couple others were higher than the normal range. On my patient redords it tells me I need to see a GP about it

Hello, I also have liver function results that are out of wack (sounds like similar to yours), my doctor is in no hurry to speak to me though - I finally speak to her (they’re still not doing face-to-face) next week - so, a month since my results, longer since I flagged my concerns.

I looked at the symptoms I have, while I’m generally uncomfortable I have no symptoms that suggest any of the really dangerous conditions - the conditions are chronic so in the world of our pressurised NHS and triage they will wait a few weeks.

It’s frustrating, I know.

ya my GP isnt in a rush. I think its a side effect of my new tablets which I have been taking since January.
