Thats a good result. My GgT was in the 1000s so you should be pleased with that x

Not good advice Nick.

GGT at 191 can be a severe problem and indicates that other tests are needed.

Yeah they came down to juat above normal. I have bloods done every 2 weeks now because of chemo but they don't test ggt just alt. Bil. And all the others. My last alt was 106 but that after a 3week bender. Before that they were all normal.ive got to be honest it scared the crap out of me when ggt was over 1000. But it must be okay now as all the others are fine,apart from my last alt. They postponed the chemo for a week because of it. They are rechecking it on the 6feb. They seem to think it will come down in that time if I avoid alcohol. Hope this helps nick

Hi nick , sorry to hear about your cancer , how is chemo going ? You sound like a really strong person mate , you said the LFT s came down , did the GGT come down ? Also did you have any scans on your liver area ? If so what did that show ? I am in the situation of a huge GGT and just waiting on new tests , did you have any symptoms like tiredness , aches and pains etc ? Thanks for all info nick .

Hi. Thank you. I have CTs and MRis regular all they have said so far that its fatty. Tired yes. But after my last bender on NYE (lasted 3 weeks) I now have really bad cramps in my hands after I eat about 30min after. I've read that this is common with cirrhosis bloody hope not I've enough on my plate. I'm sure you'll be fine. Juat try and eat well and reduce or avoid alcohol they will come down. I'm sat outside a AA meeting now. Try not to worry I know its difficult. Oh I also had pitting oedema hands and legs and feet. Dont worry pal. I have to go in now. Take care

I have really ache joints and muscles , nausea is doing my head in , I have not drank since January 2nd ,eat healthy, I felt really good for 3 weeks , then now feel crap again , dull liver ache , joints mussels , head feels strange , my bloods came back normal range , just waiting on GGT . But I can’t tell somthings wrong , so really worried . How was your meeting ?

Meeting was good thanks. I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. All the other bloods are normal. And the GGt is a sign of acute alcohol use so if uour last drink was in jan you will have nothing to worry about. Our own thoughts can go wild and send us crazy. I'm only to guilty of this. Hi nick , yes our brains go into full blown anxiety mode , I can’t sleep properly, enjoy food , films , PlayStation, cus it’s always there in my head worrying . When I go for a walk I am thinking about it to , and you just want to have a drink to dull all the worrying , it’s a cycle . If your scans say ok how reliable are these scans , if my GGT is still high that can also be what your going through now , cancer , as I feel so tired and have constant strange symptoms. Yea there’s not more anymore can do apart from eat healthy and stop or cut drinking

So true. Thats what I'm trying to do now eat good and not drink. Scans are pretty much 100%. I'm sure it will be fine. Its out of our hands so there's nothing we can do. We would have been both stressing for nothing. And your right about the drink but the problem/s will still be there after. Keep positive mate thats all we can do.

my plan is to not drink in the week days now clever again, and a drink as a treat at a weekend , binge Netflix all week , as sad as it sounds it gives me somthing to look forward to having a beer at the weekend , also cut my amount down , and try and actually enjoy my life without alcohol involved

Hey

At my worst my GGT was 4431. I got help, went to rehab, got sober and stayed sober and mines back to normal. 191 is high (normal is 0-60) and could indicate the start of major issues. My advice, if you do drink to excess, take it as a huge warning that your liver is not a happy bunny and do something about it. Seek support from services if needed.

ggt usually is suggestive of alcohol.But you do need to get a drs opinion

I've not had an alcoholic drink for one year after coming out of hospital last March. Alt 26, bilirubin 17- albumin 42 yet . ..My gamma GT is 215 can't work it out . Ever since I come out of hospital on the 5 blood tests I've had it just continues to go up on every test ..anybody had similar ?
