Hi there.I have liver cirrhosis. I was diagnosed with portal hypertensive gastropathy about 18 months ago, following another bleed. I had an endoscopy, said the lining of my stomach was altered in appearance, linked to my cirrhosis. I was put on lansoprazole and also having regular endoscopys, also looking at the varices I have. I didn't have any pain regarding the gastropathy either. Consultant said there isn't an awful lot more that can be done for it,other than to try and reduce stomach acid, hence the lansoprazole,im on the carvedilol as you already know.

My best. Chris

In my case there has been some suggestion that I have high blood pressure in Portal vein - was that part of your diagnosis?

My hubby has the same, he is on Omeprazole to reduce stomach acid. He avoids trigger foods (citrus, acidic stuff) as he used to get horrendous indigestion type symptoms. He also hasregular endoscopies and banding of varices caused by p/h.

That's what portal hypertension is - increased blood pressure in portal vein. Hubby has cirrhosis - initially with complications of portal hypertension including gastropathy, varices and later splenic artery aneursyms.
