hi I have replied to an old post but just seen this from 7 days ago… I have the same pains as you, sometimes barely noticeable in a morning but as the day goes on it gets uncomfortable.
Very sorry to hear that. What are your bloods like? do you have diagnosed liver issues?
bloods fine ultrasound a couple of weeks ago fine, I asked the guy performing the US if any signs of fatty liver he said not! I’ve had the pain on and off for a couple of years but the last few months it’s got worse. I was a regular drinker (wine and lager) but stopped two months ago which doesn’t seemed to have helped. Some days I have quite a lot of discomfort other not as bad but still there! Like you it’s in my back, lower right ribs and side and seems to move about.
Sounds identical to me, now just over three years of pain, bloods fine, no fatty liver, MRI, other scans, Fibroscan all fine - stopped drinking for six months and made no change, physiopherapy takes it away for a while, or pushing my thumb into floating ribs. DIY makes it worse, as does sitting for a long time. I've been told from one scan it was two deformed vertebra in Thorasic part of spine. Anyway, trying not drinking again at moment to see if it goes away, one pain free day last week that was nice. Good luck with your journey.
There seems to be a few forum members who have similar problems. On other posts members have commented it coud be diverticulitis or IBS / Stomach related related... I definitely have IBS syptoms and have done for years! Have you been checked for either of these two conditions?
Do you also have pain that radiates in to your shoulder.?
Thanks for your advice and posts they have helped knowing I am not on alone with this!
do you also find you get it in your floating ribs? Bottom edge right? And you can poke your finger into it and it stops?
hi mayk not really but I’ll try it today. No pain on waking so can’t try it yet !! That’s interesting as I also read a post from LGLG on here from a few years ago who says the same thing. Have a look at the post!
hi , yes there appears to be a few. Not been checked for those, Doc keeps saying it’s muscular. Wife has IBS and it’s certainly not the same - pains not really in shoulder, bottom right floating rib down towards hip bone - occasional across abdomen, sometimes to back… it has a jolly wander around !
How about yours?
hi mayk it was just as you describe excluding the shoulder. The shoulder started in spring this year… I assume it’s related but not 100% sure. Have a great weekend 👍👍
HI Napa38 - how are you getting on?
Hi Mayk19 good to hear form you. Not too bad this past couple of months. Bit of a niggling ache in my shoulder still (2/10). Other than that the pain in my side seems to have eased up some what. It can be tender some days again (again 2/10) but less frequent at the moment. I haven't had the sharp stabbing/nipping pain for a while. How are you?
Should also add i stopped chiro treatment (this also seemed to make it worse) and started with a physio instead about 4 months ago! The physio has focussed on the thoracic area of my back i.e loosening me up.
Good thanks, pains still here - on and off a bit more - Interesting - thats the same area my physio homed in on....
Do you think your pain sometimes gets worse with a lot of exertion or excercise / gardening etc?
It’s hard to say! It used to be driving and sitting at my desk for long periods but at the moment that’s not the case. I am doing a reasonable amount of exercise at the moment (weights, swimming, dog walks daily) and have been for a few months and it’s not causing me a problem at the moment. I’ve also noticed that when I do get flare ups a warm shower generally helps which would suggest muscular
It’s so similar to mine - can’t pin it down at all - I’ve had to get a stand up desk though as can’t sit for a whole day at work
I’ve read your posts and it is indeed very similar, I’ve considered the following: liver / gallbladder / slipping rib / back issues / hepatic flexure. Sometimes when full of gas following a bad few days of eating I’ve noticed an increase in discomfort, which seems to ease slightly when gas is passed. I’ve massively cut down on alcohol the past 9 months as I did drink too often and find I get on much better without it. I’ve also had numerous lft tests and ultrasound which haven’t shown anything.
Interesting, I’ve considered all of the same - also look up Thorasic related issues - remember I had MRI scan of spine and it found two deformed vertebrae that cause Thorasic nerve pain
Upper back or lower back
mine is side of back - to the right, floating rib - some sometimes shoots to my belly button or top of my thigh. Physio and excercise help - and so does standing desk at work
