Back pain and pulled muscle

Hi, I have developed back and muscle pain over the last fortnight, anyone have any suggestions for pain relief?.

I know ibuprofen and aspirin are off limits and paracetamol allowed in small dose since cirrhosis diagnosis, and assume topical gels not allowed either. Asked at chemist and they said to see my doctor....

I would agree with the chemist and see your doctor. Hope the pain gets sorted soon.

Do you have a heat pad or a cool pad? One of those might help? I use a heat pad for my back pain but also knows someone who uses cool gel pads for theirs! Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Gemma, I hadn’t thought about that-will try a hot water bottle see if it helps..

Managed to get an appointment with GP on Wednesday anyway as I have Osteopenia in my back😕.. My sister recommended tiger balm but think it’s probably better to get proper advice...

Tiger balm can be great , try to get the red one, the other half swears by it. Good luck with your appt tomorrow!x :)

If you are prone to back pain would suggest investing in a TENS machine.

There is this website that I find interesting called painscience.com. I don't know if this website is reliable though. I don't exactly understand everything but it's interesting. Here, they have written about lower back pain. They are also trying to sell some books so I don't know if they can be trusted.

Thanks everyone-as I have osteopenia in my spine, went to the gp and codeine was prescribed along with an x-ray. Seems to be a trapped nerve and muscle damage... So good news that spine looked normal😁. Just time and rest required still.. .....😕
