Having been recently diagnosed with cirrhosis, I am looking for the best chronic pain relief for my back. I have a slipped disc and it's taking a long time to heal. I had a recent spell in hospital as my liver wasn't functioning as it should due to having taken Tramadol for the last few weeks. I can longer take this pain killer and looking at alternatives that won't harm my liver. Can anyone suggest anything good? I've looked at pain relief patches and other alternative remedies but am not sure what would be best. Many thanks in advance.

Chronic back pain relief
Hi Jonny,
I cant say anything medical but a Chiropractor when there open is a blessing from the gods for muscle pain, back or even migraine relief. I would also say try some CBD cream/balm, it works wonders on my mums shoulders, she has Lupus and inclusive body myositis and that helps her once she applied it to said area, but I dont know if it can be applied with Cirrhosis, but no harm in investigating. Hope that helps a little. Take care.
Ashley
Thank you, yes that is very helpful and I shall look into that more. I did see some hemp balm (probably not exactly the same?) on Amazon and wondered how effective it may be but dismissed it, some reviews were mixed!
Hello Jonny
I too suffer so understand the pain your in which I can be extremely unbearable at times. My spines twisted due to a childhood illness which now requires daily weight exercises to keep my back muscles firm so the disc's don't slip!!
In 1994 my GP unofficially recommended a chiropractor who his wife was seeing at the time and since that day I've not looked back!
You could do what I've recently done and that's to lye flat on the floor with a pillow under your head and if possible place an ice pack on your pain for 10 minutes and repeat this action every 20 to 30 minutes if possible. ( I occasionally use frozen peas when I have no crushed ice to make into an ice pack) This was recommended by my chiropractor when no ice jell pack were to hand.
When the pain has eased a little which is usually after a few days I then try my best to do some gentle stretching exercises which normally helped to get me more mobile again.
Finally the above is only a suggestion plus it all depends on the condition of your spine. If your pain does not improve over the coming days then I suggest you either visit your GP who may request an MRI or CT scan of your spine or you could visit a good chiropractor when the lockdown is over which you can source either from the web or a friends recommendation.
I wish you all the best in the meantime.

Have you tried a TENS machine.I use one for pain relief and find it works really well.
You can pick them up quite cheaply from Boots or Savers.
My Wife had major back pain, we purchased a Infrared sauna at first which helped a little but the thing that really did the trick was PEMF therapy (Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) we purchased a machine not cheap but it was worth it
