Most likely your husband's hepatic encephalopathy has intensified. With proper and adequate treatment his condition will improve again. Do not lose hope because he is under the supervision of specialists.

The consultants in hospital told us when Mum was getting close to the end and made a palliative care referral. Dealing with the uncertainty just adds to the challenges of supporting a loved one with liver disease. Hang in there, as Fibro has said, there is hope.

I understand the stress you must be going through and would strongly recommend you contact the Team at the Hospital where he was treated - I am sure they will help with medication and give you advice. Thinking of you both.

Don't loose hope. I had three hospitalisations in quick succession last year with a total of 25 days as an inpatient and was not expected to survive the last hospitalisation. One operation later and I'm still here sixteen months on, and feeling really well. So pleased to hear your husband is feeling like himself again and hope he goes on to improve even further.
