Has anyone heard about analysis of fibroscans being updated?
I had a fibroscan in February as part of a research trial, but as blood tests were ok I was told that I couldn't be used but to contact my GP with fibroscan results. After GP admitted knowing nothing about reading the results I was referred and spoke to a consultant in August. Had another fibroscan at the beginning of this month and the results were worse than February. Cap 363 and kPa 14, with IQR/med 18%. The operator said that there had been updated guidance on reading results, but looking at the screen it came out as F4.
Still awaiting more blood tests though

I have had 4 fibroscans. I was diagnosed with fatty liver four years ago and get a scan once a year. when I had my second scan I noticed my CAP went up but my steatosis stage went down. When I questioned this I was told they had just received mew interpretation guidlines. It seems as new studies come out the guidlines change. I had my last fibroscan about a month ago and based on my scores and the previous interpretation guidlines I should have been S0, F0-F1, but now for some reason they used the guidlines for multiple eitiology to interpret the results and not the guidlines for NAFLD/NASH, so this put me at S1 and F0, They also used an xl probe on one of my fibroscans that I had a year ago and now they are telling me those CAP results are totally unreliable and that they probably should not have even used the xl probe. It seems like their is no consistency with the fibroscan. It is very frustrating. You can download the my fibroscan app and punch your numbers in for results, but there are several different study guidlines to choose from for the interpretation. You have to know which one to choose.
Hi, thanks for the reply.... it is identical to my results, CAP score up and kPa down. I guess that with so many ways of interpreting the results I need to wait for the consultant to get in touch, but it's good to know that it may have not got worse.
