I posted a little while ago after having a fibroscan with the results of CAP 328 and kpa 20.3. I saw the GP a week or so later, at the end of February, with abdomen tenderness who decided I probably had gallstones which would account for the extreme tenderness across all the top of my abdomen, and referred me for an ultrasound (still waiting for an appointment). She also wanted me to have blood tests. The results of those have come back with HbA1c raised to 46 but below diabetes level
reduced gfr calculated abbreviated mdrd of 72
serum creatinine of 70 (raised from 57 last year)
serum albumin 34g/l (fallen from 42g/l last year)
abnormal plasma c reactive protein of 16
serum triglycerides abnormal at 2.4 mmol/l
The only result she has addressed is the triglycerides (which I think is only 0.6 above normal) and asked for another blood test. But the ones I am concerned about, even though they may not be fantastically outside the range, are the serum albumin and plasma c reactive protein taking into account the fibroscan result. I did show her the fibroscan results but she just said that she didn't know what they meant.
Am I worrying unnecessarily....I just feel so fatigued, with a painful abdomen and nausea, but it seems the GP is not listening.

I strongly suggest to see some hepatologist with all your so far tests. If your GP is not able to interpret your fibroscan, it is a good advice. Good luck.
Looking at your results from amature point of you I think there are some red flags regarding your liver condition but only medical specialist can say more.
See a liver specialist. I have an 18.7 kpa and was diagnosed with compensated cirrhosis. A lot of factors come into play though. Not just your kpa determines what you have.
Thank you. I've arranged a telephone appt with a GP next Friday so will see if he will refer me. I have to do something as I've felt so poorly the last few days and then 3 days ago started with the "runs" but it is yellow, nothing I've come up against before. Perhaps that was too much information, sorry. But I will push him for a referral
Be thankful it’s yellow and not dark red or tarry. :).
Hi,
We would echo the excellent responses already on this thread and stress the importance of being referred to a consultant hepatologist.
If your GP has no knowledge of specialist liver tests, It is very important a consultant in gastroenterology or hepatology reviews your FibroScan results.
You are welcome to call our nurse helpline on Monday for a chat on 0800 652 7330 Mon to Fri 10am to 3pm
I am also messaging you now, please check your messages
I rang the helpline this morning and spoke to a lovely nurse who, although couldn't comment on individual results, assured me that I am not being over dramatic in asking my GP for a referral and so I feel that I am more empowered in telling him what I want and need. Roll on Friday 💪. Thank you
I’m not sure of all of the blood results but I am suffering the same abdominal pain and fatigue. I have had lots of investigations and been diagnosed with a fatty liver but told that wouldn’t be causing the tiredness or pain!
My inflammatory markers are up (maybe crp) but they are often raised so they are puzzled by this.
It’s so frustrating trying to get answers when you see different Drs and no one person takes charge.
my fibroscan showed non-alcoholic steatosis hepatitis which is why I went to GP. Unfortunately she knew nothing interpreting the results and I had to push for a referral. I have a (telephone) appointment with a consultant on 4th October which is 9 months from when I first saw the GP. Unfortunately, I also have to see a consultant about gallstones and still waiting for that appointment. If you have pain under the ribs on the right ask for an ultrasound to check gallstones as the gallbladder and liver can be both affected. As you say, just need someone to take charge.
wordsley I wish you the best on your appt. I have my first follow up next month after being diagnosed. I have some fat on my liver too. Btw, if your bmi is over 30 that can throw off the fibroscan.
Hope everything goes ok for you next month. I appreciate my BMI could be affecting the fibroscan to some extent, but because the GP knew nothing about results of the scan I think they need to be looked at by someone who does know.
