I was just diagnosed with cirrhosis 6 weeks ago. My fibroscan score was 14.1
The endoscopy , blood tests and ultrasound did not show bad results. I started getting these aches in my liver area after I had the fibroscan. Is this normal. Im afraid it started something.

Hi..i eas exactly the same..diagnosed in jan 2024 with a score of 14.2 but was left in agony following scan. Still waiting to see gastro specialist but family dr suggested rib trauma .. still very sore now but I'm dreading having another scan
Havnt seen anyone since..now over 7 months..due to see nurse led gastrologist in august...its over a 12 month wait to see gastrologist where i live in the uk..i have stopped a lot of perscription meds ( with dr advice) and completely cleaned up my eating habits ( lost 5 stone) so i am hoping things arent as bad as nurse suggested at fibroscan
If you have just been told and your results were not bad all your need to do is a few life style changes as to what has caused it once you stop the cause the liver will repair quickly over a months good luck Lon
Sometimes a fiboscan can give higher results due to inflammation an user error, how are your platelets, this is a very good indicator of advanced liver disease, 85 % of ppl with advanced liver disease have low or low normal platelet count. good luck!
Hi there, sorry you’re going through this right now, anything below 150 is considered low, people with cirrhosis tend to have numbers as low as 20. INR is also a good indicator as those with cirrhosis tend to have higher than 1.0 which is the normal range.
Regarding the fibroscan as someone else has said, they can deliver a higher and therefore potential inaccurate reading if the liver is inflamed.
The good news is you can lower your liver stiffness score which is what the kpa score is and it can return to a normal size if it’s swollen, which is anothed sign of how the liver is doing. A stiff liver means it’s still inflamed and damaged. A shrunken and hard liver is associated with worsening cirrhosis.
A US scan will determine the size of your liver and spleen, those with cirrhosis also tend to have larger spleens. Good luck and take care.
Look at your platelet range, each lab have different ranges, if yours is right on the line of being normal or below the line then it is considered to be normal/low normal
