I am about 7 weeks post transplant. GP phoned (on Sunday) to say my haemoglobin had fallen, and I should check with transplant clinic (seeing Thursday) whether:
1) they wanted GP surgery to deal with,
2) the QE liver team would deal with or,
3) It's nothing to worry about and will resolve itself.
Blood Tests show my haemoglobin to be 89-- does anyone know if it is likely they might want to give me a blood transfusion? I just want to be prepared if that might be the case....
Any thought gratefully received.
Thanks all

I'm not convinced they'll be thinking blood transfusion just yet. Its low, but not necessarily that low. However, it is something they'll want to know about to make a decision on. They may ask to bring your next appointment forward or may even arrange for some follow up sooner to be on the safe side. I know immune suppressants can affect blood counts, but there could be other causes too, so best to err on the side of caution and get in touch with your transplant coordinator as soon as you are able.
I would think the transplant team will need to decide, treatment with blood transfusion will depend upon other results , you should ring your transplant nurse and ask for advice before you worry. Good luck
