For encouragement I hope. 3 weeks post transplant from place of decompensated liver with ascetites and many symptoms. Don't lose hope.
Please ask me anything.
I was treated initially with meds but liver still failing. Taken into hosp ICU. Had fluid removal. Took 16 litres! Transferred to Addenbrookes. During stay had dialysis and sodium increased. Then assessed for transplant. Deemed fit enough physically and psychologically etc. Deemed only and best course of treatment. Went on the top priority list as most failing liver in the country at that point. So transplanted within 2 days. Thank God for my donor family.

good to hear you are doing well. My partner has been told that he is likely to need a transplant, meeting with a Dr from Royal Free next week as they visit our local liver unit . Its all rather overwhelming
That's good news though daunting. Your partner is in good hands.please if a transplant comes to pass do message me if you need to. I feel I have been given a second chance at life.
Well done. I had my transplant 4 years ago and felt better from day 1. I can remember my first three weeks as though they were yesterday. No better feeling in the world. Good luck going forward and well done.
We facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people living with a liver condition (and their families and carers). This includes a pre and post transplant group.
If you are in the UK and think it might helpful to speak to others with shared experience you can register to join a group here
Congratulations, remember you are very early days, take things slowly it can take up to a year to recover from a transplant. Had mine 5 years ago at Addenbrookes they are wonderful. If you use Facebook there is a group for Addenbrookes patients, Addenbrookes liver transplant association ALTA. Very friendly group and knowledgeable.
Thank you I will find it. I have to return to work Sept to keep the roof over me but it will be virtual from home for a while. Always good to hear from others keeping healthy. X
That is brilliant news, two days is amazing. I have NAFLD and on 'the cusp of cirrhosis' but hope I never need a transplant. Look forward to your new life with your new liver. Keep us in touch best thing I have read today
