Thought I'd kick off a straw poll to see how long, after going through assesment , is the typical waiting time for a new liver... of course I understand there are many reasons for waiting times but thought this might be interesting, not least because I'm close to assesment!

Hi there. I was extremely lucky as I waited only three months and so relieved when the call came at one thirty am. It was the first night in subsequent weeks that I had forgot I was expecting a call from Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham. Hope it goes well for you.paul
The average waiting time is 135 days but it depends on various factors, including your blood group and frame. I am type B blood and this group has a shortage of donors, my wait was 19 months.

Hi, waited 8 months but I didn't feel Ill I did ask to be kept at the bottom of the list for as long as possible! Only had 1 call.

14 months - liver unusable a space of 3 years as my condition became stable then relisted 13 months and transplant.
It due to many surcumstances, I hope yours is soon!

Hubby listed for 10 months then delisted (2015) as his condition stabilized. Back at watch and wait stage.

When they say make sure you have all your affairs in order they mean it 🤣🤣.
NHS Blood & Transplant actually produce an annual report setting out average wait times for each transplant centre, organ and blood type, amongst other things. Its freely available on their website.
I did have a link somewhere to the relevant document but dont have it handy.

Hi, my first call was 5 days but they hadn’t got enough ICU beds so it was released for another patient elsewhere. Second call was19 days later and I was transplanted next day. Hope your wait is not too long x
7 days due to cancer of the liver and rare blood group AB Positive
We waited 8 months and had 6 calls (was type B blood which means we had to wait for a type B liver) 🥰👍
Thought I would elaborate 🤣 6 calls were all false ones where you get called and get to hospital and they then find liver not suitable - could be for loads of reasons but sometimes that’s just the way it goes 🤷♀️ in April we also had 3 in one week (that was a bit of a nightmare 😢 - his transplant was end of May) also he had his next liver appt at the end of June and consultant was preparing to remove him from list as he was deteriorating fast and they were thinking the ‘balance’ was not in his favour - so he’s a lucky boy that he’s managed 5 years after transplant 🥰🥰🥰
3 months for me, got transplant on the 3rd call.
I was listed on the 7th jan 19 and recieved a split liver transplant on the 1st May @ QEHB X
12-days from day of acceptance onto transplant list. I've recently found out that my donor was male and was only 42-years old, 22-years my junior.
I shall be thinking of this wonderful, poor man on Tuesday 1st as it's my third Liverversary.
My husband was listed April 2019. Not had any calls yet.
