Hi, can I ask if anyone has had a blocked bile duct with no pain? Last Saturday I had the pain, but it passed, but I then had very pale stool (beige) and started turning yellow on Thursday, I had liver function tests done on the Wednesday, came back abnormal, more bloods today, and now scans tomorrow, I’m being told they think it’s gallstones blocking bile duct, surely this would be painful?

Anyone had blocked bile duct with no pain?
My hubby had that last year, we never knew he had gallstones lodged in his bile duct till they showed up on an MRI he had as follow up to his 6 monthly cirrhosis screening scan. His bowels did go yellowy and his ALP was elevated. He had no pain but because he has cirrhosis they put him in for an emergency ERCP procedure to clear the bile duct and because he can't have his gall bladder removed they widened the mouth of his bile duct so that any future stones don't become lodged and can pass easily into the bowel.

Yes. After horrendous pain and vomiting for a few days, the pain passed, but the stone didn't. I was in hospital for 5 days on no pain relief and the stone lodged. My blood results got worse every day, but as I had Covid-19 it was difficult to schedule the ERCP.
I was surprised that the stone was still blocking the bile duct, as apart from the worsening jaundice and covid symptoms I had no pain. I was assured that the stone was still in the duct though.
Hope you get yours sorted soon.

Yes, I had cholecystitis in February. Had ultrasound and MRCP. Shows gallstones and a blocked bile duct. I have no pain but have no appetite. My stools and urine are normal colour and my bloods were withing normal range. My MRCP did show something on my liver so have to wait for another scan which is worrying me something rotten. I have to wait for ERCP to remove blockage and then removal of gallbladder, but as I say it's the liver bit that's worrying me. My Consultant was quite evasive, was really difficult to get answers to my questions. Will just have to play the waiting game again. I just feel extremely fatigued and finding it hard to focus on anything else as so worried. What was your outcome.
