Husband being sick

Hi to you kind people. I posted a couple of weeks back about my husband being hospitalised with AH last year and then a fibroscan showing early Cirrhosis. He has continued to drink and started being sick today with bad stomach pain and has not eaten for 3 days and has slept an awful lot. Is this the Cirrhosis getting worse or is it a stomach bug (as he seems to think)?

He's playing a very dangerous game continuing to drink with his diagnosis & this could be a sign he's getting worse. Obviously he's still in the grips of the booze and has the denial thing going on too.

I completely agree with AyrshireK. Continuing to drink after his diagnosis and while having a "stomach bug" is a huge red flag. This is not something to mess around with. When I hit bottom I was given a 50/50 chance of making it. That was 2 years ago, I was on the liver and kidney transplant lost for over a year. Thankfully I'm no longer on either. I hope he finds his reason to stop drinking soon. Mine was seeing kids standing next to my hospital bed. Good luck to both of you! You'll be in my thoughts!

Thank you, unfortunately at the moment my husband is hell bent on continuing with drinking even though he has rang in work sick again today! He says he has no energy and has eaten next to nothing in that last 4 days.

I'm almost at my wits end with trying to help as i feel things are getting worse and i dont want my health to suffer (i have epilepsy) and I have 2 children to look after.

I may be time to walk away if this continues.

Will he drink a protein shake? That will provide some energy. My typical skate is Greek yourgurt (13gms), frozen berries, 8ounce of Fairlife (13gms) or Darigold Fit (14 grams), and protein powder one scoop=10grms. I typically do 2 scoops occasionally 3. It might take awhile to find a flavor of powder he likes. The yogurt will help with the nausea because of the and probiotic. One shake is usually 62 grms. My daily goal is 78. Which is based on weight and current body condition. Adding B-1 to his diet is also a good idea. I was prescribed 3 times a day after being released from the hospital. After a year it was dropped to just ounce a day.

Hang in there, I'm sure its very stressful. Good luck I hope he figures it out soon. 🤞

MissS. This isn't good. Is he still trying to drink through the sickness?

Sounds like a worrying development to be honest. Is he throwing up blood?

I should hope not! 999 if he is.

No not throwing up blood.

Well that's something, but based on everything else you've said further down in the post I'd still think he needs assessing properly

Hi MissS, the weeks before my husband's liver failed he was feeling cold all the time, his blood pressure was very low and he was sleeping a lot (a very deep sleep, it was very difficult to wake him up). Hopefully it's just a stomach bug, but your husband is in denial and you can't trust his judgement, so keep an eye on him and trust your instincts.

I had to call an ambulance twice when my husband was very poorly but he refused medical help, so we only wasted their time. He only agreed to go to hospital when things got really bad x

Yes he is feeling cold all the time and sleeping all the time apart from being able to get up and go to the shops for cigarettes and beer. He has no energy now but thats because he hardly eats.

I'm sure I said he was playing a dangerous game a couple of weeks ago. As you can see he's on level 2 working his way through the levels..... I bet he's heaving a yellow acid substance probably stomach acid. You see the poison and stomach acid don't mix well especially sat overnight. He will get rid of most in the morning and start drinking again and it will calm down until the day after. He may or already have stomach ulcers. He will also be turning yellow soon if he hasn't already. Does he still say he would rather die young then give up drinking?Good luck Danny

I'm keeping looking at him as i think that he looks tanned at the moment but that he may turn yellow, he's so thin and has muscle wasting. I'm scared as things aren't looking good to be honest but he keeps telling me to go away as hes only got a stomach bug so he believes there is nothing wrong with him.

I cannot click 'like'. He has the signs of decompensated Cirrhosis of the liver. That is what happens with F4. I've had it and I nearly died twice.
