ALP Level

Hello everyone! I have just received back my blood test results, and the alkaline phosphate level increases from 138 to 175. Is it really bad? Obviously I will discuss it with the doctor, but I am getting anxious, if someone could give me an opinion it would be really appreciated. Thank you and happy holidays 🙂

Hello & merry Christmas . My ALP elevated to 600 & my gastroenterologist put me on Ursodeoxycholic about 6 weeks ago . I had blood tests this morning, & my doctor just text me to say they have improved . I have had every test on my liver possible & they only found mildly dilated bile ducts & they thought it was just trauma to the bile ducts from surgery a few years back but I recently had a liver biopsy & they found some inflammation , & my consultant came to the conclusion it was Primary Billiary Cholangitis . Im no expert but your ALP at the moment doesn’t seem that high , try not to worry (as they all say) but you do . Best wishes.

Try not to worry. I didn't tell you that I had a phone call today saying to come into hospital next Thursday (supposed to have the week off until after the new year) Apparently my liver salt's are high and they have been increasing my adoport weekly I'm up to 5mg and started at 2.5mg the day after transplant. They said not to worry... So I'm not. I don't want anxiety back. Just going to wait until next week.

😃💯😉

Test was from yesterday and the results phone call came today. Just trying to reassure her that sometimes it isn't that bad or they wouldn't make you wait. Christmas or no Christmas.

I agree with you. I was worried for 7 months up to my fibroscan. Worrying did nothing for me.

Hi Laura

As others have pointed out some people's ALP is very high. I think anything above 130 to 140 is considered high (elevated). Unfortunately, the only thing I know about ALP is medication AND certain foods can help lower it. It might help to search online to see if it is something you have in the cupboard.

But as stated already, do not worry, others are worse and doing ok. Just concentrate on having a nice Christmas and try to keep your mind off it until you speak to your doctor.

Mine was continuously increasing starting June and jumped sharply up from 118 in September to 161 last week. I will bring this up with my family doctor in January but for now the only explanation that I have is the increased B12 level in blood which is at 887 pmol/L now, way higher than upper limit. I will drop supplementation and try to reduce dairy (this will be very hard for me but I will try to lower it). I hope this resolves it as everything else is within normal limits. You can ask to do B12 test in case.
