1st 6 monthly appt since diagnosed with cirrhosis

Good morning fellow campers 🥰🎄. I went for my first 6 monthly appointment with liver nurse on Wednesday. I have stage 1 compensated cirrhosis. Liver nurse phoned yesterday to say my blood tests were all within normal range and I should keep up good work. I am delighted with news 🥳 . However I was surprised I only got bloods, weight and blood pressure done and no scans. Is this normal? I am also waiting for an endoscopy from July 2021. Any comments would be appreciated. ❤️And Merry Xmas 🎄from Dandy Jones.

Hi,

I don’t often post but wanted to respond to this. I too had a diagnosis of possible cirrhosis back in April. I had US scan and elastaographic scan with readings that, if I remember rightly were F4 with deranged bloods so they basically said everything points to cirrhosis. I’ve just had my 6 month bloods and US scan results. All but GGT totally normal, GGT still hovering around 120. Scan completely normal! Smooth contour, no enlargement, no anything- can’t remember exact words. Consultant called and said if he were to diagnose from these results, he would alter my records to show F0 possibly F1 and probably alter my ongoing treatment of 6 monthly assessments to 0.. he’s requested a further elastographic scan to confirm his thoughts… I am BEYOND happy. I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol since April and they probably saw me at my worst so some improvement may have been expected but this was so much more than expected.. so what I’m saying is please do request your follow up scan… i am not saying it will be the same, but without it, you will be left in limbo… from all I have read, a diagnosis of cirrhosis needs these scans to catch tumours early enough to treat and also to watch for signs of further deterioration…

Take care

That is awesome. I’m in the USA and I’m going back in tom for the 6 months elastrogram and fibroscan and blood. I hope I’m fortunate like you! No alcohol for 7 months. Radiology last time said cirrhosis.

Hello there!! I have cirrhosis,no idea how much? Compensated now...smooth contour, not enlarged🤔🤔🤷‍♂️. I have 6 monthly scans and bloods. Bloods normal now....stopped the booze 18 months ago. I think it’s scan and bloods every 6 months to check for cancer and any other significant changes. My consultant has no interest in doing a Fibroscan at the moment...🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
