Sounds part good... Take all the sedation you can for you endoscope - absolutely anything and everything that’s offered. First one I had without sedation - easy peasy - second one without sedation an absolute nightmare. Always have sedation now and don’t remember a thing afterwards 👍👍👍
You’re a tough cookie Lynne - that’s the problem! 😀👍

Too right, get all you can. The one time I didn't get a sitter Lynne, it set the stage for a lark that's up there with some of yours And I only remember half of it including the bit where I decided to make coffee for the people at reception desk and came back much later to the flat and a lovely smell a scented candle and wondered who'd lit it.
Me too Lynne, I always have sedation, but all it does is make me relaxed....I wonder if they want me to vacate the recovery bed quickly?
I will ask for more for mine in December.
Don't need to worry about the procedure = take the sedation, it's over so quickly and they take very good care of you while you are in their care. Prepare things so when you get home there's nothing you'll need that you don't have close by, and someone to make sure you stay safe. (doing silly things because you have little judgement, lots of very good ideas, and enough gas in your tank to do them all!)
Well, unlike these mamby pamby babies 😉I did have an endoscopy without sedation.
I live in France and it wasn’t offered at my hospital.
It was not painful rather a bit of a strange sensation. They give you a throat spray so you don’t really feel it too much. The thing which freaked me out was the very strange noises I made!
If you can be sedated then do so, if not it’s not so bad and doesn’t last very long anyway.
Please don’t worry and brilliant news about weight loss.
The Endoscopy. Camera down your throat" , is not too bad. You can be sedated and you wont feel or remember a thing. I've done it a couple of times with just a throat numbing spray.
I won't pretend its a particularly nice experience but it doesnt last too long, about 5 - 10 minutes in my case. If your an inpatient then have the sedation. If just there for the Endoscopy I'd just have the spray again just so I'm OK to get home ASAP after.
They will more than likely be looking for Varices in the stomach, these are swollen polyp type veins that can burst and cause all sorts of problems. This happened to me and was the closest I have ever been to death. I was in the right place at the right time for this to occur, Intensive Care (2 weeks, worst experience of my life but saved my life).
Lets hope you have no Varicies to complicate things.
I declined because I drove to Hospital & wanted a quick lucid exit. Throat spray was fine despite the fact that like Ricky Gervais in a film I have sensitive gag reflux. It was the film that named the condition for me.
Varacies clear back in 2yrs.
Well ! Well ! I must be one real tough cookie to break, as I've undergone two Endoscopy's both without sedation and was perfectly fine! However following the first one my consultant decided from out of the blue to do an immediate colonoscopy inspection too! This was a memorable day which I've never forgotten 👎
