Had ultrasound last week. Found hyperechogenic area. Dr called and called it a lesion. Now I scheduled an MRI. Scared to death. 2 years ago raised liver enzymes. Unremarkable ultrasound. This year liver enzymes raised slightly. Not anywhere near as high as 2 years ago. Now lesion & worried. Cannot get me in for MRI until July. Waiting for a call from another facility to try to get in sooner.
Feeling scared. : Had ultrasound last... - British Liver Trust
Feeling scared.
Try absolutely not to panic - they call any unusual lump or bump in the liver a lesion and the majority are totally benign - cysts, haemangioma, little bits of fatty tissue that ultrasound isn't clear enough to clarify or sometimes just a little bit of fibrous tissue.
My hubby who does already have cirrhosis has twice been referred for a follow up MRI scan after his ultrasound showed fresh lesions and both times they have been totally benign.
12 week wait has been the norm both times he's been referred so your July one is closer away than that.
Don't panic until you know you have something to actually be concerned about, there are more non scary lesions likely to occur in the liver than scary ones and the fact you have no advanced liver disease then it is less likely altogether that what you have is a scary.
Best wishes, Katie
Thanks. It’s such a lonely time. I have a wonderful husband & family. But I’m making myself sick with worry. It’s nice to have this forum & you to help ease my mind.
Try to put it out of your mind. I know it's difficult but you weren't this stressed about it before you knew it was there and it was still there - the only difference now is you know there is something there that they are going to check out further. Waiting and not knowing are stressful but the majority of the time these things are nothing to be concerned about at all. You will make yourself poorly if you get too stressed and July isn't too far away now and you'll have confirmation of what it is they have seen.

Hi Shoie, it's so difficult not to panic when you hear words like lesion and MRI but I hope that you can find support from other forum members while you wait for your scan. If it would help to chat, our nurse led helpline is open Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330. Take care,Trust10.
Hi . Try to not to worry my ct scan showed legions and portal vein hypertension .
My mri showed they were all benign and the portal vein problem wasn’t hypertension they were inflamed because I have a rare disease that causes folding .
I know it’s hard .
