It may be infection of the bile duct which I have had for several years. The symptons are severe shivering and a sudden rise in temperature. Technically in my case it is called Primary Schlerosis Colangitis. This can be serious if left untreated and I am now on a permanent dose of anti-biotics to control it. It was the repeated recurrence if this which led to my doctor looking at my liver and finding cirrhosis.

Hello deanw41,

I have included the link to information on cirrhosis.

If you have concerns or worries regarding persistant or recurring infections, it is important to discuss with your doctors and not to simply assume it is linked to your pre existing condition.

Take care,

All GPs can do though is give you more antibiotics. Is there really any point. I just move from a lot of serious pain to added discomfort. I’m getting so tired and defeated by it all. I went to the GP on 6th Jan to discuss my eye. I had to wait three quarters of an hour due to an emergency which was okay. As I went into the surgery in my wheelchair, I was just about to discuss my eye when I suddenly keeled over unconscious. I woke up to see a large group of staff in the room. I had no idea what happened (and still don’t). Another trip to A&E and hours wasted for no good reason. I left home at 2.45pm and got home at 11pm. In that time I never used the loo, never had food or drink either. I am insulin dependent diabetic and on Warfarin as well. I had to patiently go through the whole rigmarole whist the student doctor tried hard to remember all the questions in his head that was part of his training. Because I did no longer fit into any unusual criteria and all the standard tests came back negative, he then said I could go home. I know the drill so well. It is tedious and unnecessary but even students have to learn. Then on this Wednesday I had to go through the whole scenario again due to my eye infection. This is life with Liver disease. Welcome to my world. !!!!!

Me too dean. Currently I have a really severe eye infection - a stye. I’ve had terrible pain with it. Got different advice from everyone with whom I spoke about it. I too have moved From NASH to CIRRHOSIS. My teeth are not happy and nor are many other parts of my body. I have 20 major diagnoses of other serious health problems and several sub-diagnostic problems in each of those 20 categories. I am distressed and weary with all of if. My friends and family have no desire to listen to even bits of my story. So long as I listen to their issues and not try to share, they remain friends. Everything is changing nowadays.

I am either a laughing stock or a pain to them. Liver disease is a lonely place to be. I feel for you. I’m afraid it will more likely get worse. I’m not allowed a transplant but I hope you will be so good luck.
