I had to take it as well. One thing you must make sure is that you have a low/no salt diet. Prednisone causes water retention so a salty diet will make this worse. Have you seen a dr about your stomach? Can you have it drained?
Anyway I know that despite how you feel they are doing you and your liver good. Please stick with it!
Thank you isabelle2.. I will stick to you! Just a little melt down yesterday. I think it plays with your emotions as well. I feel kinda silly for the post.
I honestly don't eat alot of salt, I'm sure there is more foods I could cut out of my diet though. I'm trying really hard to do a gluten free diet and my brother has been trying to get be try a vegan diet. He bought me a Vitamix for my smoothies. I'm just not good on diets. I know in the long run the meds are helping me I just get alittle discouraged.
But thanks again for kind words and for reaching out... it's much appreciated 💕
Stick with it. We all have melt downs occasionally. I’m on prednisalone as well. Hate what it’s done to my face. But in the long run it’s helping my liver until I get a transplant. Keep smiling xx
Thanks Smyally... we all hate what it does! Why it has to give us that full moon face I don't understand! Not to mention all the other side affects that come along with it! So unfair!!
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I have to give it a chance and I know that, everything month they tell me not to adjust at this time bc my numbers aren't where they want them to be... It's so frustrating. But I am fine...
And Best of luck to you with your health and your exciting new journey to a healthy liver. I'll keep you in my prayers.XO
First off I know exactly how you feel. I had to take prednisone when I was a teenager (many years ago!) And it ruined my body. I went from a thin face to major "chipmunk cheeks"! My stomach got all distended from a lot of water retention. And I barely recognized myself as well. I was miserable for the year I was taking it. My ITP is pretty much under control now days but it has never gotten back to a "normal" platelet count. I personally think prednisone is the most horrible of medications. But I heard prednisone does work really well for all kinds of ailments. But I will never take it again! If I were to ever need it again I would make my Dr. find something else to treat me with.
Anyways, hang in there, I know it's difficult but we are all stronger and more resilient than we think we are!
