Urinary infection in cryptogenic cirrhosis

Hello everyone. This is my 5'th urinary infection in the last 8 months, and this time is worse (with some blood find in it). Doctor said that it looks like I developed some kidney stones.

I tried to find some information about the linked between cirrhosis and recurrent urinary infection but no to much information found..

Means that the two are not linked each other?

Does any of you have the same problems?

Thank you.

I constantly had urine infections pre transplant and even had blood in it and was sent for a scope to check everything was OK which it was... Your kidneys do get effected when you have cirrhosis unfortunately it just goes hand in hand hope it passes soon

Yes urinary tract infections are very common in cirrhosis. I hope you get some relief soon from it.☹

I constantly have urine and kidney infections. In hospital right now with one. Because with cirrhosis making it harder for your body to fight off infection and kidneys are effected the two things can be linked as Jojo says. My consultants keep me on a low dose of antibiotic and this works for a while. Then your body can get used to the tablet and they change me to a low dose of another antibiotic. This works most of the time with me just getting small infections that can be kept at bay at home. But sometimes I do have to go into hospital. Have your doctors done a scan of your kidneys to find out about the kidney stones? I hope you start to feel better soon. Take care x

Hi I had a very similar experience with water infections, I had to keep on trying different antibiotics until they found the right one. I also had and still have regular kidney scans because they found out that my kidneys and bladder were not draining properly. Hopefully like me you will get something sorted soon.

Lenny.

I have had so many I can’t even remember how many now but I just choose to adapt now. Everyone keeps saying cirrhosis in the UK the name hasn’t been changed to cholangittis?
