About 3 years ago I had a fibroscan that was 11kp doc staged me at f2 fibrosis. About 9 months ago I had another from a different doc at it was 23kp (sever fatty liver)I asked if it was cirrhosis and he just said it could be and to just lose weight. No clear answers. I’ve been eating clean losing weight and no alcohol but still feel depressed and afraid I already have cirrhosis. What would be the point to continue getting “fit and healthy? So confused, how did my fibroscan jump up so quick? Also my blood tests were pretty much normal. 😔

Thank you 😀 I honestly feel great. I'm 41 fairly young I suppose lol. It's been 9 months since the fibroscan and I have to admit I've had some slips in drinking and eating unhealthy but getting better. I just thought from reading the fibroscan charts online that 23kp is cirrhosis? Some days I obsess on it and get crazy depressed where I just want to go back to my old ways or work myself into a full blown panic attack.
If it’s causing you so much stress is drinking really worth it ? If you imagine this like a set of scales straight up is you, to the left is improved blood count and then to right is cirrhosis and with every drink you push yourself closer.
It’s up to you seems to me you are in a very strong position you would hate to play Russian roulette
The only certainty on that is to stop drinking. You aren’t doomed today and is not today I’m talking about . Knowing what I know now ten years ago were my results the same as yours now?
Hi Lvone. You say your doctor has NOT diagnosed cirrhosis ... happy days. Continue to stay off the booze, eat healthily, drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins and get regular daily excercise so your fatty liver can repair and regenerate itself. All the best to you.
They could have hit a rib the second time your fibroscan was done and that would push the number higher. Only a doctor can tell you if that is possible or not but if that is not the case getting fit and losing weight should help your liver to heal a little and increase your quality of life. Early cirrhosis can be slowed down or stopped if you maintain a healthy weight and eat healthily.
Bingo! Early cirrhosis can in fact be reversed. Many, many studies now have shown this in every form of etiology (fatty liver, autoimmune, viral, all of them). You have to remove whatever caused the cirrhosis in the first place, then maintain a healthy lifestyle. Your liver has remarkable capacity to heal and regenerate itself
Thanks everyone. Yeah my doc only said it might be cirrhosis then said I'm "steps" from it so..seems vague to me. Regardless, I've changed my life around, have lost 20 lbs and no booze! Also I'm going to be seeing a hepatologist soon, just wanna make sure I lose some more weight to make sure I can get the best diagnosis. Wish me luck!
