fibroscan afyer high ast, alt

I had a fibroscan today after bloods came back with 2.5x normal ast and alt. ast higher than alt.The fibroscan nurse initially had readings of 9 and 10kpa, but eventually found a spot in middle that read 5.5 to 6kpa. She then took 10 readings at this spot and sent that to dr. She said the top and bottom of liver is stiffer and to just ignore those higher numbers but it did worry me somewhat. Has anyone else noticed this when getting a fibroscan. Right now i stopped bp meds that seemed to contribute to weight gain over 10 pounds in a month which doesnt seem to be shifting and very bloated looking. i have previously been diagnosed with fatty liver. i stopped drinking completely to be sure till get to bottom of this even though am not a heavy drinker. Other symptoms are freezing cold constantly even with heating at 23 deg c and sweaters on. terrys nails quite evident, some more noticable ankle swelling around socks and extremities freezing too, hands and toes.like ice. am 48 yo male.

My own fibroscan had huge differences between the 10 readings some as low as 4 and some in the 50s and that's how they get an average. I don't think moving the probe to a different area just to get a set of lower readings is the correct procedure.

Even at 10 though it's not that high if alcohol is the cause.

Thanks for your reply, meanwhile dr just writes me off as a hypochondriac. I had a fibroscan last year when still drinking at weekends and cap score was close to 300, now its 185 so liver fat does appear to be going down with me quitting social drinking after i got those high ast and alt values scare. Never been a huge boozer but did enjoy 4 or 5 pints in the pub at the weekends and when camping with family. i am going to treat this as a warning, probably some level of fibrosis but not cirhosis like u say. does beginnijgs of portal hypertension result in circulation issues, feeling cold all time and peripheral neuropathy which started 5 yeats ago and seems to get progreasively worse.

Hey consider yourself very fortunate. Even if yours was due to being overweight it’s below f4. There is a chart on here somewhere that Katie posted with the stages of liver disease. Do everything you can to reduce your fatty liver.

Thanks for your reply, was living in denial that my cap score was nothing to worry about just some fatty liver. Looking at chart numbers at 10 suggest f3, maybe at worse am borderline f2 f3 so no more social drinking for me. does start of portal hypertension result in coldness, bad circulation especially to extremities and peripheral neuropathy?
