Former drinker with symptoms. Had mild elevated enzymes which have returned to normal according to my lab. I had a fibroscan along with CT scan and ultrasound. Fibroscan was 5.4 and CAP 180.
Has anyone had a normal fibroscan only to later find out it was a false negative and they in fact had cirrhosis? Thank you.

"Former drinker" how many years (daily?) if I can ask?Normal LTF and F0/F1 fobroscan result (lowest possible) also normal ultrasound and CT indicate that cirrhosis is highly unlikely in my opinion. Of courses check with your doctor.
Whilst some bloods can be normal in well compensated cirrhosis you can't have symptomatic cirrhosis and normal bloods since symptoms invariably arise due to a derangement of bloods.
I have difficulty staying asleep waking up multiple times per night, internal tremors (feels like body is vibrating), and muscle weakness. My feet and legs hurt kinda like a soreness feeling even when I haven't done anything. I am just convinced it is my liver due to the past history of alcohol use.
-FibroScan is a useful tool for monitoring various liver diseases.
-It is quite accurate in distinguishing between early and advanced stages of fibrosis, but less so between early and intermediate stages.
-You can have normal blood tests and still have a liver disease.
-If you have abused your liver through alcohol consumption, genetic disease, or viruses, it is challenging to expect your liver to be as healthy as that of someone in a normal state.
In my case, I have hemochromatosis and am prone to fatty liver. When I was diagnosed, my liver function tests (LFT) were in the 100s (years), and my liver had five times more iron than a normal person, with nearly 15 times more ferritin in the blood.
In my latest check-up (every 6 months):
AST 21
ALT 23
GGT 28
Platelets 229
FibroScan 4.3 kPa probe M (before last 5.8 kPa probe XL)
CAP 209
Everything seems completely normal.
However, if I take any medication, such as antihypertensives or statins, my liver panel starts to become imbalanced 100s, and I cannot tolerate it, whereas a healthy liver would not have any issues. Therefore, if you have put your liver under stress for many years, you need to seek a proper diagnosis and be prepared to treat it with great care for the rest of your life.
